James Lipton Used to Be a Pimp in Paris

Posted: 28 May 2013 10:52 AM PDT

James Lipton, the stoic, inquisitive host of Inside the Actors Studio, apparently spent part of the ’50s working as a pimp in post-war Paris.

The 86-year-old TV icon elaborated on the experience in the latest issue of PARADE, in what can only be described as a deleted scene from Les Miserables:

It was only a few years after the war. Paris was different then, still poor. Men couldn't get jobs and, in the male chauvinist Paris of that time, the women couldn't get work at all. It was perfectly respectable for them to go into le milieu.

He goes on to say he became close friends with one of the prostitutes who worked for him.

“We became great friends,” he said. “When I ran out of money, I said, ‘I have to go home.’ She said, ‘No, you don't. I'll arrange for you.’ So she arranged for me to do it. I had to be okayed by the underworld; otherwise they would've found me floating in the Seine.”

“I represented them all, but her especially. I did a roaring business, and I was able to live for a year. The French mecs didn't exploit women. They represented them, like agents. And they took a cut. That's how I lived. I was going through my rites of passage, no question about it. It was a great year of my life.”

That’s great. Now, what’s his favorite word?

‘The Voice’ Recap: Katrina Parker Talks This Week’s Top 8 Performances

Posted: 28 May 2013 11:38 AM PDT

Referred to as "the embodiment of [The Voice]" by Rolling Stone, Katrina Parker was a Semi-Finalist on Team Adam during Season 2 of the hit show. Katrina’s currently recording her debut album and stopping in weekly to discuss her favorite moments from Season 4 with Celebuzz.

One night, eight contestants and some crazy staging made for an interesting week on The Voice. Plus I've got a nasty head cold, and my head is swimming (which made it even MORE interesting). Now wash your hands and take your vitamins, children. Let's chat about this week's episode.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall. Michelle Chamuel's take on "Grenade" may have been my favorite performance Monday night. I was nervous when they announced the song choice, but she put her own stamp on it, making it indubitably "Michelle" (mirrors, squats and all). Starting solo with an understated arrangement, bit by bit she built the song into an intense, pulsing affair with a stage full of supporting players. It turned the original on its head and gave it a surprising gravitas thanks to her emotional connection to the lyric. I like surprises, but more than that – I LOVE Michelle.

Bond, James Bond. The Adele curse – I get it more than most. Her voice is so distinct and ingrained in people's consciousness that it's a tough proposition to cover her songs. If you sing them straight, you're an imitator. If you try something new, people act like you spray painted the Mona Lisa. However, Amber Carrington escaped the curse this week. Despite a couple of uncertain moments, she sparkled on "Skyfall" (both vocally and visually). The hair, dress, makeup and staging were flawless, as was her dramatic, grown-up performance. PS: How can I get my lips to look that glittery?!

Sticks and Stones. I wonder whose job it was to bring in the logs and weeds for The Swon Brothers performance of "Seven Bridges Road?" Those woodland gatherers might have been grumbling while they picked up twigs, but I'm sure they felt validated once they saw that onstage campsite in all its artificial beauty. This setup wins for the most hilarious staging of the night.

Carson's Burn Book. What was up with Carson Daly randomly calling Usher Urkel? It was a little funny but also a little awkward. Maybe Carson's trying to build up his burn book? Maybe he's eyeing Usher for an epic bromance? Who knows!

2nd Biggest Burn. Usher responded to Carson's burn by calling him Jimmy Neutron, which is perfect (TOO perfect actually – did they rehearse this??).

3rd Biggest Burn. Adam Levine told Danielle Bradbery that it was nice of her to sing a song for Blake Shelton after her performance of "Grandpa." Haaa, it wasn't Usher vs. Carson, but it was good stuff.

Return to the Thunderdome. Judith Hill did a stellar job on "That Power," further demonstrating her versatility as a performer. Her vocals were on point (as always), but the most fun was seeing her command the stage and all the elements on it – from the pedestal to the players to the wild hair and wardrobe reminiscent of Tina Turner in "Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome." All those things might have overwhelmed someone else (but not Judith). It was the perfect way to open the night.

Cutest Moment. When Carson asked for coach commentary at the top of the show, Usher played it cool – saying "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going" and calling Michelle Chamuel a hard worker (a contrast to Shakira's adorably straight-up begging for Sasha Allen). Then in a show of solidarity with his last contestant standing, he put on a pair of black horn rimmed glasses and announced he was joining her army of supporters. Cute factor = 10 (out of 10).

Best Dancer Multi-Tasking – "Without You" was not my favorite song for Sasha Allen, but it's impossible not to be drawn into her performances. There's something truly special about her (even when the shoe doesn't fit).  I also have to give props to her dancers for not only – you know – dancing but for also turning her circular pedestal, revealing secret stairs in some of the best staging of the night. I'd love for those guys to follow me around revealing hidden stairs so I can walk down them fiercely (just because). Yay for multi-tasking!

Everybody Gets Mad. Holly Tucker ("Done") and Sarah Simmons ("Somebody That I Used to Know") were encouraged to find their angry places this week. Both did just that, turning in performances that had more attitude than usual. It was refreshing. Angry suits them well (just like glitter suits me well).

A Song I Used to Like. Y'all, I love Gotye. I love him so much it hurts, but you know what else hurts? Hearing "Somebody That I Used to Know" constantly on the radio and then again on The Voice in Season's 2, 3 and 4. Can we please open up a new songbook? Maybe dig into more Indie Singer/Songwriter tunes? Or Standards? How about Polka? Anything different would be welcomed.

What Up, Grandpa?! The real star of The Voice this week was Holly Tucker's Grandpa who was there celebrating his 79th birthday. When he gave a little gleeful "woo" for Holly, he officially became my favorite relative this season (outside of Karina Iglesias's Abuelita). Let's give him his own show! I mean, look at him styling with the hat and jacket and the effortless country cool?! Grandpa is living proof that awesome exists after 70.

What were your favorite performances? Leave your thoughts in the comments, and tune in Monday at 8PM EST as I live-tweet the next episode of The Voice (@katrinapmusic).

Bikini-Clad Olivia Wilde Makes A Splash With Fiance Jason Sudeikis

Posted: 28 May 2013 10:34 AM PDT

Olivia Wilde Bikini Jason Sudeikis

Olivia Wilde is kicking off bikini season right.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone actress and her fiance, Saturday Night Live star Jason Sudeikis, hit up the beaches of Maui, Hawaii on Memorial Day Monday.

Clad in a skimpy black bikini, Wilde sure made a splash — both literally and figuratively — when she hit the open waters with her paddle board.

And to think she thought she wasn’t “beautiful enough” to be with Sudeikis.

The 29-year-old told Marie Claire in March that she was intimidated by the actor upon meeting him.

“He’s a brilliant actor with a brain like lightning. I thought, ‘I’m not beautiful enough or his type.’ I couldn’t wait to sit down and hear him talk,” she said.

“He seemed to really see me, see through the bull****. He said very few words and couldn’t keep eye contact. He was so handsome, and he could dance.”

‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ Recap: Stop Trying To Make Alex Bellino Happen, Lydia

Posted: 28 May 2013 10:02 AM PDT

Lydia McLaughlin's doe-eyed innocence is cute, but annoying. The newest cast member of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Orange County is determined to have Alexis Bellino and Tamra Barney become best buds again. Can someone tell her she's beating a dead horse already?

Note: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched Monday’s episode: “Speech Therapy”

Lydia and Alexis meet up, and Ms. McLaughlin clues her pal in on the ladies attending the taping of Heather Dubrow's guest spot on Hot In Cleveland. Alexis admitted she was a bit bummed she couldn't attend, since she and the other women weren't on the best of terms. Nevertheless, she is happy for Heather's foray in television.

Lydia advised Alexis it is time she  came to peace with the other housewives and especially Tamra, since everyone was in such a good place right now. However, Alexis begged to differ. Girl, I ain't mad at you for that! Lydia insists Alexis should forgive and forget, because after all it is the Christian thing to do. We all know how Alexis and Jesus are homies. Alexis knows she needs to be a follower of the Lord. He does want you to make nice with others, but she just doesn't know if she can with this group of ladies.

Listen Lydia, we all see you are trying to make your mark and claim your spot in the group as the peacemaker, but honey, sometimes you just have to leave well enough alone! Have you not seen what happens whenever Alexis enters a room, or her name is even brought up around those vicious vixens? They aren't gearing up to braid her hair or invite her over for martinis. Maybe you do have some control issues like your pot-loving mama has said before. Just stay in your own lane, because this circle of ladies will run you over like they are going to a sale at Gucci.

Meanwhile, Vicki Gunvalson meets up with her on/off again boyfriend Brooks, where she is determined to have her daughter accept him. Reality sets in for the insurance maven when she shoots down Brooks' idea to go away for a romantic weekend. Vicki promised her daughter she'd watch her grandson and just can't go back on her word, especially since her son-in-law's being deployed to Afghanistan.

Is it me or did Brooks look like he was not amused by her explanation, nor did he want to reschedule their rendezvous for a later date like she asked? Not for nothing Vicki, but maybe this relationship needs a time of death called on it, since you and Brooks just can't get it together. We get you don't want to be alone Vicki, but the man pretty much wants you to choose him over your own flesh and blood. That is a serious girl code violation.

Buzz Moments

OMG!: Tamra‘s emotional speech at the women’s expo on her past relationships. We finally get an insight into what makes Tamra, well, Tamra..

Thank you, TV gods.: Heather’s hubby Terry apologizing for the wisecracks he was making over her career.

Awk-ward: Gretchen Rossi‘s doctor describing her reproductive organs as “plum and lush”.  Dude, just say they are healthy! That was majorly weird.

Hotness: Lydia’s husband cooking. Gotta love a man who knows his way around the kitchen!

Fab-u-lous: Alexis’ workout. Seems like a fun way to burn calories.

Can. Not. Wait.: For the ladies’ trip to Puerto Vallarta for Tamra’s bachelorette party and Lauri Waring Peterson‘s return with dirt in tow!

Kelly Osbourne Opens Up About Her Father’s Recovery in ‘Cosmopolitan’

Posted: 28 May 2013 09:40 AM PDT

Kelly Osbourne opens up about her father’s most recent bout with addiction, as well as her own sobriety, in the newest issue of Cosmopolitan.

Osbourne says she’s proud of her father for admitting he’d fallen off the wagon, and for seeking help.

“I love and respect that he’s honest enough to say, ‘Yes, I did this. It was my fault,’” she tells the magazine. “He’s a real man. Most people would hide, and he doesn’t. It doesn’t make me love him any less. It took a long time to get to that place, but I understand it now. And my mother does too.”

Several tabloids speculated back in April that Ozzy and wife Sharon were getting a divorce. In response, Ozzy admitted that the couple was, in deed, having some problems because of Ozzy’s relapse, but that they were working things out.

In the magazine, Kelly talks about the struggles she and her father have faced as addicts:

“He’s an addict; I’m an addict. It’s going to be one of those things we battle for the rest of our lives. I take the necessary precautions. If you’re not happy and healthy, it’s not worth any of it. Everyone says sex, drugs, and rock and roll are fun. It ain’t fun. It is not something to glorify.”

In the magazine, Osbourne also talks about her rumored fiancé Matthew Mosshart, wanting children and her plans for the future: “Happiness and a Golden Globe. What? I’m fabulous. I need a Golden Globe. What is life if you’re not going to live it to the fullest? People think this is my 15 minutes. F**k you. I’ve got an hour.”

‘Candidly Nicole’: 5 Drag Queen Rules From RuPaul

Posted: 28 May 2013 09:07 AM PDT

Nicole Richie is on a mission to be a bit more of a drag queen. So who better to learn from than the most legendary lady of them all, RuPaul?

“I don’t want to regret that I didn’t take advantage of my drag years,” Richie admits in the latest episode of her hit AOL webseries, Candidly Nicole.

That’s why the style maven steps into RuPaul’s school of drag, where she finds out how to dress, act and even speak like a true queen. And if you too are feeling the itch to dial up the drag in your life, here’s five take-home tips:

1. It’s all about your frame of mind.
“The drag mentality is taking what you have and turning the volume up to 14,” RuPaul explains. “We want you to be glamazon.” That means higher heels, shinier sequins, and frillier feathers. “So I need to stop thinking like a short girl,” Richie realizes, “and start thinking like a drag queen.” You getting it, girl.

2. When posing, elongate everything.
“T*ts out, Long neck, chin down,” RuPaul instructs Richie. “Push it out like that,” he adds, turning his hip out. Now vogue.

3. Forget reality — focus on fantasy.
“We don’t concentrate on real life,” RuPaul says. “We concentrate on drag. You’re born naked, and the rest is drag.”

4. What faux pas?
“Where can I rock a camel toe?” Richie asks. “There’s a time and a place for a camel toe,” RuPaul responds. Still, they both prefer camel as a color.

5. Repeat after me.
RuPaul teaches Richie some drag slang with this little nugget: “No T, no shade.” In short, it’s a preface that let’s someone know that you’re not trying to offend, you’re simply stating the obvious. “What’s the T? T is the truth. They say, ‘No T, no shade,’ which means, ‘Look, girl, I’m not trying to come for you, but let me just break it down for you,’” RuPaul explains. Richie catches on quickly: “Let me just school you, but I’m doing it to actually help you.”

Now that the course has concluded, Richie ready to rise to queendom. “Who is most going to enjoy me being a drag queen?” she says. “Probably my children.”

Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Chastain, Scarlett Johansson and Amanda Seyfried All Want to Play Hillary Clinton

Posted: 28 May 2013 09:43 AM PDT

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery — which couldn’t be more true for the much-anticipated biopic of Hillary Clinton.

According to The Sunday Times, actresses Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Chastain, Scarlett Johansson and Amanda Seyfried have each expressed interest in taking on the role of the former First Lady-turned-Secretary of State.

"They're all wonderful actresses. We're very fortunate that a lot of really great actors are interested in playing these roles. We're in an enviable position,” Rodham director James Ponsoldt said on Sunday.

For those who were hoping for Meryl Streep, that now-famous selfie will have to do.

Today’s Mariah Carey Caption Contest Is #Beautiful and #Hilarious

Posted: 28 May 2013 08:48 AM PDT

Mariah Carey Performs On ABC's "Good Morning America"

Like many other people, I love Mariah Carey. However, I don’t really love her because of her music, which isn’t really “my thing”; I love her because she sometimes gets a little bit nutty, and in these phases, she is the most entertaining person in the world. Please see her episode of Cribs for an example of what I am talking about.

Or, see her recent performance on Good Morning America, where she swore on live TV and suffered a wardrobe malfunction. Now that’s entertainment! So what if it wasn’t a “great” performance? At least we got a great caption contest out of it:

“And that right there is my jewel in crested bunion.” – Vanessa

“So you landed on that girls head like this?” – Shemika

“Put my Cinderella shoe on it!” – Traci

“Here’s Miguel checking out Mariah’s ‘vision of love’ canal…” – Sharon

“Kiss my feet, dahling…” – Angela

Congrats to our winners! Visit our Facebook page for a new Caption Contest each and every weekday.

Beyoncé Threatens to Eject Fan From Concert, After He Smacks Her Butt on Stage

Posted: 28 May 2013 10:56 AM PDT

As it turns out, he was not ready for this jelly. A man was nearly kicked out of Beyoncé‘s concert in Copenhagen last night after he smacked the “Grown Woman’s” backside while she was on stage.

The incident happened during “Irreplaceable,” as Beyoncé invites audience members to sing the “to the left” portion of the song. One man, however, drunk on the power of Beyoncé’s shared spotlight, decided to go where no man (but Jay-Z) has gone before.

“I will have you escorted out right now, all right?” Beyoncé chides the the man, before getting back to the song. According to NME, he was allowed to stay.

Kelly Rowland, Beyoncé and Michelle Williams Reunite on New Track, ‘You’ve Changed’

Posted: 28 May 2013 06:52 AM PDT

It’s another Destiny’s Child reunion, of sorts.

After the trio teamed up at the Super Bowl, Kelly Rowland has brought the former band back together by featuring Beyoncé Knowles and Michelle Williams on her long-awaited new song, “You’ve Changed,” off her upcoming Talk a Good Game album.

"I can say I'm done in a million ways / But let's not beat around the bush / Let's cut to the chase," croons Rowland.

The mid-tempo soulful track is the latest collaboration from the former girl group since “Nuclear,” the Pharrell Williams-produced new single dropped as part of DC3′s compilation Love Songs in January. Though the single showcases the artful harmonies from Rowland, Beyoncé and Williams, the ladies never actually stepped into the recording studio together.

"We were actually in three separate places when we did this song," the new X Factor judge told Blis FM of “You’ve Changed,” which follows her buzzed-about single “Dirty Laundry,” in which she comes clean about her jealousy of Beyoncé’s success after Destiny’s Child disbanded. "I got messages from one of them back to back like, 'oh my god, we sound so great together!'"

Rowland’s Talk a Good Game, which also features collaborations with Wiz Khalifa, Pusha T, and The-Dream, hits shelves on June 18.

10 Things to Look Forward to This Summer

Posted: 27 May 2013 02:42 PM PDT

It's Memorial Day, which means summer is here. Officially, summer solstice doesn't begin for another three to four weeks, but hey, it's never too early to get excited for shorts weather, music festivals and Henry Cavill.

Here are 10 things we're looking forward to in the next four months (in no particular order).

Kate Middleton's Baby

We're counting down the days until the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, aka. Prince William and Kate Middleton, welcome their first child. Will it be a boy or girl? Will it really arrive at the same time as Queen Elizabeth's Coronation Festival?

One thing's for sure, the royal baby be loved by everyone from Prince Harry to Princess Beatrice‘s legendary hat.

Yeezus

From a cryptic tweet to the innovative debut of his new song "New Slaves," Kanye West has been buttering up his fans for the release of his sixth studio album. On May 18, West's girlfriend Kim Kardashian posted the following image on her Instagram account. Yeezus drops June 18.

Arrested Development

All 15 episodes of Arrested Development season four went live on Netflix on Sunday, May 24. While it's hard to gage how many of you have already seen all the episodes, those with enough willpower might be able to enjoy a summer of AD – one healthy episode at a time, with daylight and a change of clothes in between. As advised by creator Mitch Hurwitz, don't binge watch.

"Don't feel obligated to watch it all at once. It's a comedy! It's not like Lord of the Rings. Comedy takes a lot out of you," he told Vulture.

Man of Steel (June 14)

Henry Cavill as Superman. Michael Shannon as the oh-so-evil General Zod. A super team of director Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen, Sucker Punch) and co-producer Christopher Nolan. Need we say more?

Kim Kardashian's Baby

Hey baby Kimye, we can't wait to meet you.

Beyonce Comes Home

Beyonce Knowles started her Mrs. Carter Show world tour in April, but her massive production doesn't hit stateside until June 28, with her first show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Queen Bey will tour the United States of America through early August before jetting overseas again for a music festival in England.

Bonnaroo

Speaking of music festivals, one of the wonderful things about summer has always been the sights, sounds and smells of Bonnaroo. On the lineup this year: Paul McCartney, Mumford & Sons, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, R. Kelly and these talented people. See you in Tennessee.

Pacific Rim (July 12)

This. Is. Going. To. Be. Epic.

Legends of Summer Tour

Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z will be hitting up 15 stadiums this summer, beginning with the Rogers Center in Toronto, Canada on July 17.

Can we wear shorts and tanks instead of suits and ties?

Lollapalooza

The other big music festival of the summer will take place in Chicago's Grant Park. Nine Inch Nails fans will surely have a ball, as will fans of The Cure, Queens of the Stone Age and The Killers.

Can it be summer always?

NYPD Says Amanda Bynes Was Not Groped by Police

Posted: 28 May 2013 06:42 AM PDT

Despite claims to the contrary, a spokesperson for the New York Police Department on Tuesday said that actress Amanda Bynes was not groped during her high-profile arrest last Thursday.

“Internal Affairs investigators have found no evidence to corroborate Ms. Bynes’ allegations. To the contrary, a credible civilian witness who was with the officers throughout told investigators that none touched Ms. Bynes inappropriately or otherwise engaged in misconduct at any time,” the NYPD said in a statement.

Bynes was arrested in her apartment Thursday night after allegedly throwing a bong out the window of her 36th-floor apartment in New York. She later told her side of the story on Twitter, claiming one of the arresting officers “slapped my vagina.”

“Sexual harassment. Big deal,” she added.

In subsequent Twitter posts, Bynes, 27, has said she plans to get a nose job and become a rapper.

Khloe Kardashian ‘Can’t Wait’ To See What Kimye’s Baby Looks Like

Posted: 27 May 2013 10:06 PM PDT

Just like everyone else in the world who's on celebrity baby bump watch, Khloe Kardashian is eagerly anticipating the birth we all can't stop talking about. Baby Kimye, of course.

And she's dying to find out if the littlest Kardashian will take after mommy or daddy.

"I am so excited! I can't wait to see Kim as a mommy,” Khloe gushed to Celebuzz at the launch of the Glam Louder Program and Bling It On! contest for HPNOTIQ liqueur at Mr. C Beverly Hills on May 22.

"I think the anticipation of seeing what the baby looks like…I just wanna know what they look like!"

And this little sister is more like the mama bear when it comes to defending big sis Kim Kardashian, who's been the target of criticism over her growing curves. But Khloe defends her pregnancy body.

"She's doing great besides the criticism she gets… I think she's now handling it better and she's just now just trying to block it all out,” she said.

"It was hard for her. Any woman at the end of their pregnancy I think they're just like I'm uncomfortable… I can sense it's coming."

And fans and critics alike will get to see it all unfold on when season 8 of Keeping Up With The Kardashians premieres June 2.

"It just gets crazier and crazier because we have more and more family members. People keep having kids!” said Khloe.

Not to mention the debut of her not-to-shabby-to-gawk-at brothers, Brody and Brandon Jenner… and much more.

"You get to see Kim's pregnancy, the whole ride of it,” she added, “and I think it's good for women to see the difference because Kourtney was like 'earth mother god' and so easy and Kim has had a different pregnancy."

Watch the Music Video for Kelly Clarkson’s ‘People Like Us’

Posted: 28 May 2013 05:34 AM PDT

Kelly Clarkson threw her hat into the race for Song of the Summer on Tuesday by releasing the music video for her new pop anthem “People Like Us.”

The video puts the American Idol superstar in a futuristic, Big Brother-esque society, where doctors study the minds and actions of scared little children using their strategically placed Nokia cell phones.

Naturally, Kelly manages to bust one of the kids out of the hospital, where she then takes her to this weird, Oz-esque land where people are happy and everything is okay. The journey, of course, involves a high-speed chase in a strategically lit BMW. (Seriously, it’s like she’s in a Ford Focus commercial for Idol again.)

Product placement aside, the song is pretty good, and should keep fans in order until Kelly releases that Christmas CD she keeps talking about.

Check out the video for “People Like Us,” above.

Celebrity Summer Hairstyles

Posted: 27 May 2013 02:36 PM PDT

The arrival of summer means it’s time for beachy, effortless, go-with-the-flow hair. It also means you have an excuse to throw your locks into a messy bun and call it part of your look.

Celebs like Julianne Hough and Beyonce are inspiring us this season. Whether these ladies are lounging on vacation or hitting a hot red carpet, they know the way to treat their tresses. Top-knots, tamed bangs, waves and braids are right on-trend for the hot months that lie ahead. Need some visual cues? Check out the gallery, above!

Khloe Kardashian’s Best Neon Moments

Posted: 27 May 2013 02:38 PM PDT

To some, neons might be a flash-in-the-pan trend.  To Khloe Kardashian and Yours Truly, neon is a thing of the past, present and future.  I wore neons as a child, I wore neon to prom, and I will wear neon till I’m old and grey.

Khardashian echoes my sentiment towards the fluorescent end of the rainbow, rocking pieces from Myne, Hermes and Louboutin on several occasions.  Be it a dress, a purse or a pair of shoes, Kardashian’s statement is simultaneously subtle and commanding.

Try neon out this summer, be it a clutch from Rebecca Minkoff or pumps from Boutique 9.
