‘The Office’ Cast Bids Emotional Farewell

Posted: 15 May 2013 11:05 AM PDT

Ahead of the show’s series finale this Thursday, the cast of The Office is saying goodbye to each other, to the show’s fans and to Scranton, PA. The video is a little on the long side, but definitely worth it for fans who’ve stuck with the show for eight years.

Hayden Panettiere Stuns in Herve Leger at ABC Upfronts

Posted: 15 May 2013 10:59 AM PDT

Looking good, Juliette Barnes.

Hayden Panettiere was a vision in purple on Tuesday night, thanks to a studded cutout number from Herve Leger by Max Azria.

The 23-year-old Nashville star, who was on hand for the ABC Upfronts Party at The General in New York City, finished her look with black suede booties and braided hair.

Last week, the network announced that the popular drama will return for another season, along with other renewed shows like Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and Revenge.

The season one finale of Nashville airs on May 22 on ABC.

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’s’ Simon Pegg and Karl Urban Gush Over Chris Pine’s ‘Beautiful Behind’

Posted: 15 May 2013 10:35 AM PDT

Captain James T. Kirk is no ordinary captain.

In J.J. Abrams‘ reboot of the famed Star Trek franchise, the U.S.S. enterprise leader (played by Chris Pine) is bold, brash and bears a risky penchant for breaking the Star Fleet tried-and-tested rulebook.

Despite his drawbacks, though, the ship’s crew stands by Kirk when push comes to shove in the thrilling Star Trek Into Darkness, which hits theater Thursday. But it’s not his leadership skills that keeps Kirk’s team loyal.

“[It's] his butt. He has a beautiful behind,” Simon Pegg, who stars as the side-splitting engineer Scotty, told Celebuzz‘s Cory Lopez. “If you follow Kirk, you can’t help but be hypnotized by those steel buns of his.”

After working together for 2009′s Star Trek, Pegg signed on for the sequel just for another chance to gaze at Pine’s great derrière. “That’s kept me coming back for more year after year,” he quipped. “He’s someone I can get behind.”

But Pegg and Karl Urban — the man behind the offbeat doctor Leonard H. McCoy a.k.a. Bones — agree that there’s more to Pine than meets the eye. “I love Chris. We both love Chris,” Pegg said. “Chris is funny because he’s a leading man but he’s pretty goofy as well, isn’t it?”

“I think people him as this sort of corn-fed, all-American, super handsome guy,” he continued. “And he is that, but he’s also a bit of a goof. I love that about him.”

And that goofy good humor led to “a lot of laughs” on set, Urban added. “And that goes for everybody,” Pegg said. “When we hang out, it’s a blast. And to be able to do that, and get paid to do it, and be in Star Trek, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

For more from Pegg and Urban, check out this clip of them breaking down their characters‘ sense of humor. And check out Celebuzz’s coverage of Star Trek Into Darkness, including interviews with director J.J. Abrams, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve, and upcoming clips with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.

Judging the Upfronts By Their Cover: CBS

Posted: 15 May 2013 10:29 AM PDT

Every spring, each major television network announces its primetime schedule for the next fall. Many new shows will premiere, but few will make it past November. Here at Celebuzz, we know your time is valuable so we’re picking which of these new shows is worth your time, completely site unseen.

We Are Men

What’s it about?: Bromance comedy about four single men living in the same apartment complex. There’s an older one (“four-time divorcé who still fancies himself a ladies man”), a metrosexual (“speedo-wearing OB/GYN”), a non-white (“was caught having the world’s worst affair”) and the main one (“ditched at the altar mid-ceremony”).

Who’s involved?: Our band of bros consists of Tony Shalhoub (Monk), Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle; the Obama administration), Jerry O’Connell (Stand By Me) and Chris Smith (Paranormal Activity 3). Shalhoub’s character has a daughter played by Rebecca Breeds (Home and Away) who will, no doubt, be a love interest for some or all of the men on the show because this sounds like a very feminist television program.

When will it air?: Monday at 8:30 EST

The Verdict: Nope. Absolutely no. But its slot after the 75th and final season of How I Met Your Mother will guarantee it’s both a hit and something that guy from three dorm rooms down in college with a Bob Marley poster talks about on Facebook a lot.

Mom

What’s it about?: A sober single mother of two is trying to put her life back together and mend her relationship with her mother while working as a waitress at a restaurant the exclusively employs stock sitcom characters.

Who’s involved?: Anna Faris and Allison Janney play the central daughter/mother characters. The restaurants stock characters are Nate Corddry (Harry’s Law) as the suave, skeevy bossman and French Stewart (3rd Rock from the Sun) as the loud-mouthed chef. The team behind Two and a Half Men, Chuck Lorre and Eddie Gorodetsky serve as executive producers.

When will it air?: Monday at 9:30 EST

The Verdict: In my mind Allison Janney and Anna Faris can do no wrong. But then again, Chuck Lorre can do no right. My gut is that this show will be more Two and a Half Men than The West Wing so it’s probably safe to skip.

Hostages

What’s it about?: CBS’ only new drama starting this fall, Hostages is about a family who’s taken hostage by a rogue FBI agent ordering the doctor mother to assassinate the president during surgery.

Who’s involved?: Toni Collette plays the surgeon in question and her husband is played by Tate Donovan (The O.C.). Dylan McDermott plays the FBI agent who may be doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. The show is executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer who brought you every CSI or Pirates of the Caribbean or Amazing Race you ever saw.

When will it air?: Monday at 10:00 EST

The Verdict: This is probably CBS’ most interesting-looking new show, but it’s hard to figure out why this is a television show and not a movie. Keep in mind it won’t run for a full season, but only until January when it will give up its time slot for a midseason replacement. I’ll give this one a shot.

Intelligence

What’s it about?: A bland thriller about a man whose brain has access to WiFi.

Who’s involved?: Lost‘s Josh Holloway plays the man who took Google Glass one step too far. His boss is Marg Helgenberger (CSI), Meghan Ory (Once Upon a Time) is a Secret Service agent whose job it is to protect him and John Billingsley (Star Trek: Enterprise) plays the WiFi chip inventor.

When will it air?: Monday at 10:00 EST, as a midseason replacement

The Verdict: How boring. What if Jason Bourne could read Wikipedia by just thinking about it? And he still worked for the government? No thanks.

The Millers

What’s it about?: A local news reporter can’t wait to re-join the singles scene after a divorce. Only his plans are ruined when his mother moves into his hip bachelor pad. Many a joke about wingmoms spring forth.

Who’s involved?: The show is lead by Will Arnett and Margo Martindale (Justified). Beau Bridges (The Descendants) plays Arnett’s father who is living with his sister played by Mary Elizabeth Ellis (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and her family. J.B. Smoove (Saturday Night Live) is Arnett’s best friend.

When will it air?: Thursday at 8:30 EST

The Verdict: Even if the plot sounds a little obvious, this is a great cast. And many comedies are more about the writing and performances anyway (describe the plot of Seinfeld and tell me if you think you’d like that based on the plot alone), so there’s a chance this could be really good. Or it could be another Up All Night, ruined by the network.

The Crazy Ones

What’s it about?: A successful but unorthodox man runs a powerful advertising agency alongside his driven and focused daughter.

Who’s involved?: It’s a Robin Williams/Sarah Michelle Gellar single-camera workplace comedy from the man who brought you Ally McBeal. If that doesn’t excite you, I don’t know what will.

When will it air?: Thursday at 9:00 EST

The Verdict: It’s a workplace comedy by the same man who made Ally McBeal which means you probably already have a good idea whether or not you’ll like this. Watch anyway, if for nothing else than to see if this show has co-ed bathrooms too.

The Stars of ‘The Great Gatsby’ Step Out at Cannes

Posted: 15 May 2013 11:03 AM PDT

The Great Gatsby' Photocall - The 66th Annual Cannes Film

Cannes is officially underway and it all kicked-off with a little indie we’ve never heard of already mega-hit starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, The Great Gatsby.

Ms. Mulligan was stylin’ in a Balenciaga by Alexander Wang LBJ (little black jumpsuit, it’s a thing) at her photocall and she stunned in a long white dress and a sleek ‘do for the night’s big premiere. Her co-star Leo didn’t look too shabby either–nobody wears a goatee/mustache beard combo like Mr. DiCaprio. Isla Fisher was a vision in white lace Dolce & Gabbana. Later, at the evening’s Opening Ceremony, she pulled out all the stops in a red hot number.

Looks like this cast’s fashionable red carpet getups will be hard to top.

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Results Recap: Meet The Final Four

Posted: 15 May 2013 09:41 AM PDT

Tuesday's episode of Dancing With The Stars is a mix of highs and lows as contestants are cut down to the final four. On the heels of Tuesday's announcement that ABC show will revamp its format to one episode a week next season, this may be one of the last results shows we will ever see. The show celebrated its 300th episode with performances from The Wanted and Avril Lavigne.

After Monday's killer competition with three couples earning perfect scores, it's unclear who will earn the coveted encore. It's Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough re-dancing their amazing Argentinian tango to the judges' delight.

Now for the results.  The first couple headed to the next round is Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff. They earn a perfect score for their Argentinian tango and it’s enough for the NFL star to sip the hot seat this week.

As expected, Kellie and Derek are headed to the finals, but the rest of the rundown isn't so predictable. Zendaya is in the bottom for the first time all season! The crowd is shocked that her ill-fated quickstep could yield such catastrophic results. Even though Carrie Ann Inaba called it "a mess" during her critiques, it certainly wasn't bad enough to send her home after such an awesome showing this season.

Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson are also in jeopardy, drawing unexpected booing from the crowd. Once Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas are deemed safe, it's clear this soap star's time is up.

“This has been an amazing experience because I thought I was going to be done in, like, two weeks,” he says after hearing he has been eliminated. “Kym has choreographed the most amazing routines and she catered them toward my two left feet and it got us this far.”

Now that the final four has been revealed, there's no telling who will take home the disco ball prize. There's no doubt we'll see stiff competition from Kellie Pickler, Zendaya and Aly Raisman in the finals — but Jacoby Jones could still surprise us all by maintaining his winning streak.

Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal Might Star in ‘Into the Woods’

Posted: 15 May 2013 09:37 AM PDT

Can Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal sing?

That is the question on everyone’s minds today after Deadline reported the hunky and perpetually bearded actors are up for roles in the upcoming movie-musical adaptation of Into the Woods.

The roles up for grabs: Cinderella's Prince and Rapunzel's Prince, respectively, though it is unclear which role would go to which actor. (At the very least, we know they’re good-looking enough to play princes.)

All eyes have been on Rob Marshall’s much-anticipated take on Stephen Sondheim’s beloved Broadway musical. Already, the project has landed Meryl Streep as The Witch, and Johnny Depp as The Wolf. Tony winner James Corden is said to be up for the coveted role of The Baker; Nina Arianda, another Tony winner, might get a part, too.

Whether or not this latest casting item will develop further remains unclear. But if it does, yeah, let’s hope they can sing, because the last time Meryl Streep starred in a movie-musical, not everybody could.

Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz Team With The Opportunity Network to Help Low-Income Students in New York

Posted: 15 May 2013 09:42 AM PDT

Daniel Craig and his wife Rachel Weisz have partnered up with The Opportunity Network to assist low-income students in New York City, the nonprofit organization announced Wednesday.

The partnership, which includes a multiyear charitable gift from the stars, will help place high-achieving, low-income students in top colleges and successful careers. The Hollywood power couple, who married in New York City in 2011, recently made the Big Apple their permanent home.

"Some of the brightest, most motivated young people are living in New York City neighborhoods where college seems further away than a foreign country. We want to help give them a passport to a better life," Craig said.

"We are incredibly grateful for Daniel and Rachel's gift. Not only will it help us get more programs to more kids in need, but it raises awareness of the important work we do, and puts us on the map in a new and bigger way," added Opportunity Network founder and executive director Jessica Pliska.

The organization, which was founded 10 years ago, works with students from sophomore year in high school through college graduation, all while preparing them for post-secondary, career opportunities, internships and networking skills.

Who’s on Twitter? Vol. 1

Posted: 14 May 2013 09:34 AM PDT

There are more than 500 million people on Twitter. Some of them are teens. But some of them are famous people! And since we can’t all be Justin Bieber, Celebuzz is paying tribute to the decidedly less high profile users of Twitter.

Macy Gray
Age: 45
Occupation: Singer
Twitter Handle: @MacyGraysLife

You might remember Macy Gray from 1999. She of the afro who tries to say goodbye but she chokes. What’s she up to now? Well she’s still singing, and tweeting.

Merry Christmas to you too, Macy Gray.

Sometimes she gets confused about Twitter.

But usually she likes to pose philosophical questions to her followers.

She has a creative way of spelling “good morning.”

We aren’t really sure what this is.

Where does Macy Gray get her ideas? From Jim Carrey movies, of course.

Let’s hope she doesn’t decide to erase the part of her memory that houses the lyrics to “I Try.”

In closing, here is a poem she wrote:

Heather Morris Sports Mini Baby Bump

Heather Morris' baby bump

The Glee Club’s newest member is growing!

Just a little more than four months along, pregnant Glee star Heather Morris is now sporting a small but not-to-be-missed baby bump.

The actress’ blossoming belly peaked out from beneath her shirt as she took her pet pooch to a Los Angeles dog park on Tuesday early evening. Keeping it casual for her solo stroll, a makeup-less Morris paired an American flag-emblazoned tank-top with cotton shorts and flip-flops.

Heather Morris' baby bump

News first broke of Morris, 26, expecting her first child with her high school sweetheart, longtime beau Taylor Hubbell, in early April. Though the star has stay lips-sealed, the budding bump is now big enough to speak for itself.

But as Morris prepares for parenthood, her future as ditzy cheerleader Brittany Pierce on Glee is reportedly uncertain. The hit Fox dramedy wrapped it’s fourth season last week, but Morris currently has no deal locked down to return for a fifth run.

The Results Of This Zac Efron Caption Contest Were Predictable

Posted: 14 May 2013 12:48 PM PDT

Stars On The Set Of 'Townies'

Not gonna lie, there is a common theme running through most of the captions we received for this photo of Zac Efron. Can you guess what that theme is? SPOILER ALERT! It’s poo. The theme is poo. Because he looks like he’s pooing. I hope I didn’t ruin the surprise for anyone, but, c’mon, we all knew where this was going. I simply felt it best to jump to the juicy (sorry) conclusion.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy today’s scatological-themed captions, because I sure did!

“I can’t hold it any longer!” – Nancy

“Look at me! I’m doing my best Farrah Abraham impersonation!” – Angela

“I’m giving birth to a foot!” – Jalisa

“And squeezeeeeeeeee” – Rosanna

“Poo poo party in my pants.” – Donna

Someone Just Paid $2,000 to Meet Gwyneth Paltrow

Posted: 15 May 2013 10:14 AM PDT

If you thought shelling out $3.99 for that goop app was a bit much, try putting down $2,000 to meet its creator, Gwyneth Paltrow.

Well, that’s exactly what one person did early Wednesday morning when they purchased this “epic” package on Groupon.

The ad, which sold out at 12:24AM ET, will apparently send the lucky winner and a friend to New York, where they will be treated to dinner, spa treatments and tickets to a private goop event that sounds a little bit like the mansion sequence from Eyes Wide Shut, only completely frigid and fully clothed.

More specifically:

You and a friend are invited to the private goop event, which begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 14. You can munch on appetizers and sip cocktails before goop editor-in-chief Gwyneth Paltrow gives a cooking demonstration. You'll leave with a signed cookbook.

Have fun!

Angelina Jolie Now Has Plans to Remove Her Ovaries

Posted: 15 May 2013 07:23 AM PDT

Angelina Jolie, who on Tuesday revealed she had a preventative double mastectomy in February, reportedly has plans to undergo surgery to remove her ovaries after doctors discovered she had a faulty BRCA1 gene that puts her at high risk of developing cancer, sources tell PEOPLE.

Jolie first wrote about her cancer scare in an emotional column published early Tuesday morning in The New York Times.

“I wanted to write this to tell other women that the decision to have a mastectomy was not easy,” Jolie, 37, wrote. “But it is one I am very happy that I made. My chances of developing breast cancer have dropped from 87 percent to under 5 percent. I can tell my children that they don’t need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer.”

Her decision was supported by her fiance, Brad Pitt, who subsequently told London’s Evening Standard:

Having witnessed this decision firsthand, I find Angie's choice, as well as so many others like her, absolutely heroic. I thank our medical team for their care and focus. All I want for is for her to have a long and healthy life, with myself and our children. This is a happy day for our family.

PEOPLE adds that because of the faulty BRCA1 gene, Jolie now has a 50 percent risk of developing ovarian cancer, the same disease that took the life of Jolie’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, in 2007.

Further details about Jolie’s surgery plans were not revealed.

How Much Would You Pay to See a ‘Golden Girl’ Naked? (NSFW)

Bea Arthur is baring all, on canvas that is. A nude painting of the late and great comedic icon will sell at auction today in New York City. The painting, which Arthur did not pose for and is not from this episode of Golden Girls, is expected to go for anywhere between $1.8 and $2.5 million.

Entitled “Bea Arthur Naked,” the work was painted by John Currin in 1991. At the time it was painted, the New Yorker described Currin’s work as “acrid fantasy portraits of menopausal women.” Unfortunately, there are no paintings of Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty to complete the set.

Here is the full version of the painting:

Melissa Joan Hart Cancels Kickstarter

Posted: 15 May 2013 06:30 AM PDT

It seems people won’t throw money at just any project a celebrity throws on Kickstarter. Melissa Joan Hart has canceled fundraising for her movie, Darci’s Walk of Shame, after the movie only managed to raise $51,605 of its $2 million goal.

Clarissa explains the movie’s plot as a romantic comedy about Darci, played by Hart, who must overcome “enormous hurdles to get back to her sister’s wedding and avoid her family witness [sic] her first walk of shame.” After only finding 315 backers, the Kickstarter campaign has been canceled and we’ll never know if Darci makes it to her sister’s wedding on time.

Hart had promised some pretty stupid perks to those who pledged a substantial amount of money for the film. For instance, donors of $300 were promised Melissa Joan Hart would follow them on Twitter for a full year. Only one person pledged that much.

Fortunately, all’s not lost for the teenage witch, her ABC Family series Melissa & Joey returns for a third season later this month. And Clarissa Explains It All is probably still in syndication somewhere. Right?

Beyonce Apologizes For Canceling Concert in Handwritten Note

Posted: 15 May 2013 05:47 AM PDT

Beyonce took to Facebook early Wednesday morning to apologize to her fans in Belgium after doctors forced her to cancel Tuesday’s scheduled concert performance in Antwerp at the last minute.

In a handwritten letter, the 31-year-old singer writes:

I’ve never postponed a show in my life. It was very hard for me. I promise I will make it up very soon. I’m sorry if I disappointed you.

Beyonce, who is recuperating from dehydration and exhaustion, adds she’s “feeling much better now” and will perform tonight at the Sportpaleis as planned.

News of Beyonce’s canceled show further ignited rumors that she is pregnant with her second child. Those rumors began on Monday thanks to a scoop from Page Six.

Nicole Kidman Upstages Everyone With Flawless Arrival in Cannes

Posted: 15 May 2013 05:31 AM PDT

Nicole Kidman arrived to the 2013 Cannes Film Festival Tuesday afternoon with the style and elegance of a modern-day Grace Kelly. (Which is funny, because she’s about to play her in a movie.)

The 45 year Oscar winner, who is one of the nine people judging this year’s film lineup, looked beautiful in a sparking blue cocktail dress, and was more than willing to pose for photos as she prepared for 10 days of movies. (Wouldn’t you be, too?)

Your move, everyone else.
