Gary Goldsmith Can’t Wait For Niece Kate Middleton To Make History Posted: 17 Jul 2013 12:47 PM PDT Gary Goldsmith, Carole Middleton‘s jolly younger brother and a bit of naughty fella, recently talked to the Daily Mirror about, well, just about everything Middleton. It seems we’ve got Goldsmith all wrong, according to him. And you know what? I’m inclined to believe the old boy. "Everyone always assumes the worst," the self-made businessman said. "People see my tattoos, read stuff and think I'm this awful, dodgy bloke. It couldn't be further from the truth.” Goldsmith loves talking about his family. Like, a lot. Which is great for the rest of us, because we get to hear all about the Duchess. “I remember pictures of Kate when she was a toddler, sat in my parents' garden, balancing on this rockery in this fish pond my dad made from an old corner bath,” Goldsmith told the British paper. "We were all sitting there thinking, 'Just one picture, don't fall in'… and that girl there is now one of the most iconic women on the planet. And I'm her uncle…” Goldsmith, who likely got a stern talking-to from Carole over his 2009 Ibiza bust, thinks that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are having are going to make history. “My suspicion is that they're having a baby girl," Goldsmith said. "But, of course, I don't know that for fact. “I believe Kate and William have kept the sex of their child a secret to everyone but themselves. They're a very modern couple and I believe William will be as hands-on as Kate with the parenting. That's the genius of it. "It would be brilliant, wouldn't it, if they do have a little girl? To have one of my family, my niece, making history will be absolutely unbelievable." Goldsmith attended the UK premiere of The Frozen Ground this evening, starring Nicolas Cage and Vanessa Hudgens. |
Sofia Vergara Sizzles in Terry Richardson Shoot, Puts All Photo Shoots to Shame Posted: 17 Jul 2013 11:45 AM PDT That's it. Sofia Vergara wins our vote for the sexiest black and white photos ever taken. On Wednesday, celebrity photographer Terry Richardson shared some sexy behind-the-scene snaps from his shoot with the Modern Family star for the August 2013 issue Harper's Bazaar. Vergara, 41, is also the cover girl for the new issue. And for the record, she doesn't really get tired of all the work she puts into being gorgeous all the time. "No, I'm Latin; I do it no matter what. It's automatic," she tells the magazine. "I shower, do hair and makeup. For me, it's like shaving. I don't believe in a natural look. Lipstick brightens your face! Unless you're Gisele Bundchen or 19, you need something." For more of Vergara's interview, head over to Harper's Bazaar. |
Emmys 2013: We Predict the Nominees Posted: 17 Jul 2013 12:30 PM PDT Over the last seven days, Celebuzz editors Andy Scott and Robert Kessler analyzed the top categories leading up to tomorrow’s much-anticipated Emmy nominations. Well, now it’s time to predict what will actually happen. Will Mad Men lead the pack? Will 30 Rock get a nice farewell package? Or will voters say “screw everything” and give it all to The Bible? To help you answer these questions and more, Andy and Robert have posted their official predictions, which you can check out in full, below. At stake, of course, is a bet. The winner — which we’ll announce at the end of the week — will receive a DVD of their choice, while the loser will have to suck it up and pay for it. Cory Monteith’s Father Says His Son Was Cremated Posted: 17 Jul 2013 11:51 AM PDT While Lea Michele is grieving alongside Cory Monteith's family in Vancouver, British Columbia, the late actor's father is grieving alone. Joe Monteith is "devastated" he wasn't able to see his son before he was cremated, he tells Celebuzz. "I love my son as always forever and forever," said Joe, holding back tears. "I am just devastated. He's going to be forever missed." Although he hasn’t planned any memorial services, Joe says his ex-wife, Cory's mother Ann McGregor, is making necessary arrangements in Vancouver, more than 3,000 miles from his home in New Brunswick. "They have not called me. I have had no input. I'm totally at a loss. I couldn't even see my son before he was cremated," he added. "Everything has been planned by my ex wife. "If they happen to invite me, I'd like to be there." The British Columbia Coroner’s Office confirmed July 16 the 31-year-old died of a toxic mix of heroin and alcohol. Joe’s wife Yvette Monteith previously gave Celebuzz an exclusive statement upon hearing the news of her stepson’s tragic passing: ”He was a beautiful young man. He was loved by everybody,” she said. “He was very talented and put himself in the spotlight because that’s where he always wanted to be and that is what he was always interested in. He made everybody smile. That was Cory.” |

CVS Won’t Sell ‘Rolling Stone’ with Boston Bombing Suspect on the Cover Posted: 17 Jul 2013 12:03 PM PDT The cover of Rolling Stone is usually reserved for rock stars, celebrities and Johnny Depp in redface. But the magazine’s August 3rd issue features none other than Boston marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The choice is an obvious ploy for attention — some are calling the magazine “Trolling Stone” — but nonetheless it’s sparked intense debate online. CVS is now officially the first company to step in, saying it won’t be selling the magazine in its stores. The Rhode Island-based drug store posted on its Facebook page today:
Certainly this is not the first time Rolling Stone has published an article about something other than music or movies or pop culture. Most notably, it was Rolling Stone that published Michael Hastings’ article that eventually took General Stanley McChrystal down. However, Gen. McChrystal was not on the cover of that issue, Lady Gaga was. Even more interesting, not even Tsarnaev’s supporters are fans of the cover. There is a surprisingly large community online who worships Tsarnaev (they call him Jahar). Gawker’s Max Read wrote about the group in April:
Members of the #FreeJahar nation have also jumped to criticize the cover, mostly taking offense to it calling him “the bomber.”
Massachusetts officials have also condemned the cover. A spokesperson for Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino said the mayor, “does feel strongly that the cover was ill-conceived.” Mayor Menino is apparently writing a letter to the publishers of Rolling Stone. Expect more companies to follow CVS’ lead. UPDATE: Rolling Stone has posted the full story online with the following note from the editors attached:

Demi Lovato’s ‘Made In The USA’ Music Video: A Tale Of Young Love Posted: 17 Jul 2013 11:02 AM PDT Demi Lovato‘s new music video for her latest single, “Made In The USA,” has all the makings of a classic American love story. Boy meets girl at a carnival. Girl and boy roll around in the grass. They drive aimlessly in a vintage convertible Chevy, hair blowing in the wind. They frolic in the rain. This all means they are officially in love, clearly. But what happens when boy has to ship off to fight for his country? Well, just watch the video, above, to find out… The just-released video for the second single off Demi’s album, Demi, happens to be co-directed by none other than Ms. Lovato herself. It also stars two hot young Hollywood actors — Friday Night Lights‘ Aimee Teegarden and 90210‘s Dustin Mulligan. “Made In the USA”‘s pop-patriotic style serves as a fitting soundtrack for the loved-up pair’s emotional wartime drama. Demi appears throughout the clip, too, all casual and country in denim and light makeup. She happily strums her guitar for a young crowd in a venue that looks a wee bit like the set of Footloose. We can’t knock the 20-year-old performer for trying her best with this directorial debut. There was no awkward Smurfs dancing or boring concert footage, so we’ll take it. Nice job, Demi. Take a look at Demi’s “Made In The USA” music video, above.

Royal Biographer Marcia Moody Explains The Fascination With Kate Middleton Posted: 17 Jul 2013 09:58 AM PDT Marcia Moody was OK! Magazine‘s royal correspondent for two years, which gave her unique access to the royal family and allowed her to study the Duchess of Cambridge. Moody’s new biography, Kate (out Oct 1, available for pre-order now) details the expectant mom’s life as a commoner and then as one of the most influential women in modern history. Celebuzz interviewed the journalist about her new book, and how Kate’s rock solid relationship with William revived the monarchy. CB: What about Kate captivates you most? MM: I think probably her one hundred percent dedication to her role – she was not born into the royal family and yet she seems like she was. She has overcome extreme nerves about stepping into the public arena, and whenever I have seen her she has a fantastic way with people – she is warm, friendly and interested in everyone. Like William and other members of the family, each person that she speaks to feels like they have her undivided attention whether it it just for one minute or for five or more. She has also totally submerged herself in her charity patronages, doing all her own research before deciding which ones to take on – everyone I spoke to at her charities was impressed with the depth of research, and the commitment she was offering them. CB: During her twenties, do you think Kate felt that her relationship with William was more “giving” than “taking” on her part because she was sacrificing so much (her friendships, her freedom)? MM: I think that there would definitely have been many levels of transition in the early years of their relationship. After all, Kate had led a totally private life for her first twenty years and anyone would need to take a lot of changes on board if they entered into a relationship with a future monarch. In that way, I’m sure the private person would have been through a lot of adjustment, and Kate would have been no different. I do also think that one of the the reasons she and William are still together is because of the ways that he has supported her with the changes that she was going through. CB: People often ask me if Kate was more in love with the idea of being a royal/dating a prince than William himself. I believe that she was/is/always has been head-over-heels in love with him. What are your thoughts? MM: I really don’t think she was in love with the idea of being royal. While other female students [at St. Andrew's] would wait for William outside lectures and stumble up to him on nights out, Kate was actually embarrassed when she first met him and didn’t say much. And they both dated other people to begin with – they were friends for over a year before they got together. She would have been only too aware of the pressures that would have come with being a member of the royal family – she would have seen that William’s protection officers were a constant presence, and seen first hand the way he was treated by strangers and written about in the press because of his position. I think they are both with each other for entirely the right reason – they are in love. CB: There is talk that Carole Middleton encouraged Kate to attend St. Andrew’s instead of Edinburgh (where she was originally supposed to go) after Carole found out that William was going to attend. Do you believe this? MM: No, I think it’s complete fabrication. Carole always seems to get a bad rap and I really don’t know why… She’s a pretty amazing woman – starting up her own business from scratch and raising three children at the same time, and she didn’t have any formal child care. Then when the business was taking off, her husband quit his job to join her on the business. Others have been called feminist role-models for less! The fact is regarding the admissions process to university, Kate would have accepted her offer to St Andrews early in the year, while William’s team didn’t announce that it was where he would be attending until much later in the year. CB: People often assume there is something “more” going on with Kate and Prince Harry because they are always laughing together. What is your response to this? MM: Kate and Harry get on brilliantly and they are very fond of each other, but to suggest anything more is ludicrous! CB: How do you think Kate handles the scrutiny of being in the spotlight? MM: I think she handles it bit by bit. She’s been with William for ten years and has had time to acclimate. He has given her lots of good advice, as have other members of his family and his team. She’s a pretty strong, self-confident and intelligent woman, so I think she deals with it in a very logical way. She’s still learning, but she and William have a great relationship and he will be supporting her every step of the way. Follow Moody on Twitter. |
Kim Kardashian Breaks Her Post-Birth Silence With Thank You Note To Fans Posted: 17 Jul 2013 09:58 AM PDT The new mom has spoken. Kim Kardashian has released a thank you note to fans on her Celebuzz blog a little over a month since welcoming daughter North with boyfriend Kanye West. The reality TV star writes:

‘Sharknado 2′ Will Take Place in New York City Posted: 17 Jul 2013 09:51 AM PDT Because living through Hurricane Sandy was so much fun for everyone, SyFy announced on Wednesday that the inevitable sequel to Sharknado, the tentatively titled Sharknado 2, will wreak havoc on the streets of New York sometime in 2014. The original Sharknado starred Tara Reid and Ian Ziering and centered around a tornado that lifted sharks out of the ocean and sent them flying through the streets of Los Angeles. The movie bombed in the ratings (only 1.4 million viewers tuned in) but hit big on Twitter, which was apparently all the network needed to say “yes” to a sequel. Here’s the press release, which sounds like it was written by a cross between Bruce Vilanch and the Crypt Keeper from Tales From the Crypt:
On my way to work this morning, I saw a naked homeless woman sleeping on a piece of cardboard. I think I can handle a couple of sharks. |

Celebrities Hop on the Citi Bike Bandwagon Posted: 17 Jul 2013 10:04 AM PDT Ride, ride, ride your Citi Bike, gently down the street. Celebrities are doing just that. From multi-hyphenate comedian Seth Meyers, to mayoral hopeful Anthony Weiner, to the object of almost all affection, Leonardo DiCaprio, notable New Yorkers have been pedaling along the pavement thanks to the nation’s newest, and biggest, bicycle-sharing program, Citi Bike, named after lead sponsor Citigroup Inc. And they’re not the only ones drinking the cycling Kool-Aid: within just one month after the program’s May launch, Citi Bikers traveled 1.28 million miles, which is the equivalent of 50 trips around the planet Earth. Even Louis C.K. logged a few miles — or, more likely, a fraction of one. See what other stars have taken gone merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily along on their Citi Bike maiden voyage. Because, life is but a dream. |
Ryan Gosling Is Handsome Even in a Heat Wave Posted: 17 Jul 2013 10:07 AM PDT While the rest of us are sweating our faces off in the sweltering furnace that has become New York City, Ryan Gosling is making it look good. The oppressive heat wave couldn’t the Canadian heartthrob from looking handsome as ever as he stepped out at a special screening of Only God Forgives at the BAM Harvey Theater in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Tuesday. Donning a cream-colored summer suit over a white button-up, Gosling hit the red carpet with costars Kristin Scott Thomas, Vithaya Pansringarm, Yayaying Rhatha Phongam, and their director Nicolas Winding Refn, who all answered press questions on a panel following the screening. Though Only God Forgives received mixed response in its debut at Cannes Film Festival, Gosling fans will want to catch this one in theaters: it may be the last time we see the actor — turned Internet meme, turned do-gooder — in front of the camera for a while. Tear. |
Justin Bieber Gets Tattoo of His ‘Moms’ Eye Posted: 17 Jul 2013 08:12 AM PDT Justin Bieber will always be mama’s boy. The pop phenom is paying a special tribute to his mother, Pattie Mallette, with a new tattoo: a close-up of her eye on his inner left elbow. Bieber debuted his latest body art addition — the work of legendary tattoo artist Bang Bang, the man behind much of Bieber’s ink — on Instagram Wednesday. “@bangbangnyc did this art,” he wrote, along with a snap of his heavily-tattooed arm, where the new tattoo sits under his “Believe” and above his armored knight. “Moms always watching ;)” Bieber has been raking up body art recently. In 2013 alone, Bieber has been under the needle at least five times. Aside from his latest tattoo, the singer has had an armored knight, a dark-haired angel (which strangely resembles his ex, Selena Gomez), a koi, a large “X” and the logo for his hometown hockey team, the Stratford Cullitons, inked on his body. The new addition marks Bieber’s sixteenth tattoo, a collection that also includes three Christ-inspired designs, his mother’s birthday in Roman numerals, a crown, and an owl. Before we know it, Bieber may be looking like this. Let’s hope not. |

Here’s the Trailer for the WikiLeaks Movie Posted: 17 Jul 2013 06:48 AM PDT Another day, another Benedict Cumberbatch trailer. Yesterday it was 12 Years a Slave; today it’s the trailer for The Fifth Estate, starring Cumberbatch as notorious WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. The movie is directed by Bill Condon, with a screenplay based in part on the book by former Wikileaks spokesperson Daniel Domscheit-Berg, Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange and the World’s Most Dangerous Website. In addition to Cumberbatch who seems to be pretty much everywhere these days, the movie stars Laura Linney, Stanley Tucci, Anthony Mackie, David Thewlis and Cousin Matthew Dan Stevens. As for whether the film will be pro- or anti-WikiLeaks, the trailer seems to play both sides. However, Assange himself has claimed to have read the script and called the movie a “lie upon lie” and a “massive propaganda attack on WikiLeaks and the character of [his] staff.” Assange also refused to meet with Cumberbatch while he was preparing to play the role, though the two did email back and forth. Cumberbatch has, himself, made positive comments regarding Assange, saying “Assange made the most extraordinary contributions to human history by treating the Internet as a democracy.” The film’s title is a reference to the name online journalists have given themselves, distinguishing them from the traditional media — the fourth estate. It’s due out in October, right in the middle of awards season. |
Queen Elizabeth: Let’s Get This Show On The Road, Royal Baby Posted: 17 Jul 2013 01:08 PM PDT Like everyone else in the media, I’m getting so antsy waiting around for Baby Cambridge that almost anything (almost) royal-related strikes my fancy. While I’m not all that interested in how an elementary school acquaintance thinks Catherine will be as a mom, I do find Queen Elizabeth‘s opinion on the whole waiting game rather compelling. While on an engagement in Cumbria today, the Queen visited children in Lake Windermere. A few were curious as to whether the monarch preferred Kate have a boy or girl. “I don’t think I mind,” she said rather diplomatically, according to the BBC’s Peter Hunt. However, the Queen’s annual Balmoral holiday commences next week, so the future monarch better hop to it. “I would very much like it to arrive. I’m going on holiday,” the Queen added. In other splendid news, the Queen approved gay marriage in Britain. |
