| Olivia Munn: ‘The Newsroom’ Faced ‘Tough Competition’ for Emmys Nominations Posted: 18 Jul 2013 11:03 AM PDT  After critics applauded The Newsroom for turning a corner with its season two premiere, cast member Olivia Munn hoped Aaron Sorkin‘s HBO series — about the behind-the-scenes happenings of the fictional Atlantis Cable News channel — could earn Emmy recognition. “Well it would be very nice,” she told Celebuzz at the L'Oréal USA Women in Digital “NEXT” Generation Awards in New York City Wednesday, hours before nominations for 65th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced. “I know how hard Sorkin works on the show and how everybody works on the show, so to get something like that would be amazing.” While it didn’t make the cut for the outstanding drama series category, The Newsroom did pull in three nods, including one for lead actor Jeff Daniels, who stars as News Night lead anchor Will McAvoy. “It’s a tough competition. One-hour dramas, all of my favorite shows are in that category,” Munn admitted. “I have a lot of friends on other shows. So, it’s one of those things that it’s nice when it happens, and if it doesn’t happen, it’s really nice for your friends.” For her part, Munn praises Sorkin — also the brain behind beloved TV drama, The West Wing, and the Oscar-winning movie, The Social Network — particularly for how he weaves real-world news stories into his scripts. “I’ve never really asked him what he covers and what he doesn’t cover, and the rhyme or reason,” she said. “Only recently during a panel did … I get to hear [Sorkin's] answer. They were talking about the Newtown shooting and if he would cover it. And he said … something like … ‘It’s very hard to do because … you have to do it without exploiting it or diminishing it. It’s a very tricky thing.’” “So it’s interesting, the thought process he has to go through to decide,” she continued. “Just because it’s a news event doesn’t mean that we should be incorporating it into our show, which is a fictional show. I really loved and respected him more for saying that.” Though Sorkin chooses storylines on his own accord, that doesn’t stop Munn and her fellow castmates from trying to predict what current events will pop up in the show’s scripts. “Sometimes I watch things and I get very excited, I’m like, ‘I wonder if we’re gonna [cover that],’” she said. “Sometimes we do that on the set. We go through and go, ‘What’s the next story going to be?’ And we all go through our timeline … try to figure out what news event was happening at that time.” |

A source tell Us Weekly that the couple, who are currently filming in the follow-up to 2011′s X-Men: First Class in Canada, fell for one another while reprising their roles of Mystique and Beast. “They started the shoot in April as friends, and then one day they just started kissing,” says the source. “One thing led to another and they hooked up. All her old feelings came rushing back. Now they’re fully back on.” Lawrence, 22, and Hoult, 23, previously split in January after two years of dating, with sources saying the cause of the breakup was due to the fact that the actors lived in separate countries. Rihanna found herself on the receiving end of some salty snacks while performing in Manchester earlier this week. That's right. During her second of two shows in Manchester on Tuesday, the "Diamonds" singer took a break to address the crowd after someone threw chips on the stage. "There's good crazy and there's bad crazy. When you throw s**t up here, that's an epic fail," she told her fans. "I want to get your gifts but I don't want you to knock my people out . . . I swear to God, cut that s**t out. Really? Chips? Chips though? That's that important?" According to a fan video of the incident, the chip throwing may have been in response to RiRi's tardiness that night. C'mon concertgoers. That's the type of villain Electro claims to be in this first Amazing Spider-Man 2 teaser, released Thursday ahead of the film's San Diego Comic-Con panel. And what a teaser it is. In some 30 seconds, fans get a first taste of Jamie Foxx's villainous character, his evil voice and his not-so-friendly face, as jolts of electricity fire off around him. "No matter what you do doc, you can't contain it. You want to know how powerful I am? Well I want to know too. I'm Electro," he says in the clip. The Amazing Spider-Man 2, out in May 2014, will see the return of Andrew Garfield as the webbed hero, Emma Stone as his love Gwen Stacy and Sally Field as Aunt May. Paul Giamatti, B.J. Novak and Felicity Jones also make appearances.

But don’t feel guilty if you have been misspelling Jay Z’s name wrong all these years. As Levy points out, even the rapper’s own label, Roc Nation, is confused. They’ve listed the rapper as Jay-Z on the album cover of 2009′s The Blueprint 3, but no where else on the record. Jay, whose was born Shawn Carter, now joins the slew of famous musicians such as As least fans can take solace at the fact that didn’t change his name to a mere to a mere symbol. |
| Emma Roberts Talks Boyfriend Evan Peters And Good Girl Rep In NYLON Posted: 18 Jul 2013 10:00 AM PDT  NYLON Magazine’s August 2013 Denim Issue cover girl, Emma Roberts, is dishing about her relationship with boyfriend Evan Peters in the fashion mag. The release of Emma’s cover story, which hits newsstands July 30th, comes just days after the 22-year-old star was arrested for allegedly hitting her boyfriend, American Horror Story actor, Evan Peters. Emma revealed to the mag that she and Evan didn’t click right away, saying: “We first met at a dinner party, and then we worked together on a movie [Adult World], which we did not date during. We didn’t get along, actually – he wouldn’t speak to me. But it turned out that we both liked each other, so months later, we started dating, which worked out for the best.” Following Emma’s arrest on Tuesday, reps for Emma and Evan released a joint statement, explaining, “It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding. Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it." “I can’t say I’m never going to mess up, but if I do, I’ll definitely be very sorry,” Roberts admitted to NYLON, commenting on her good girl reputation. The We’re The Millers actress also remarked on her childlike qualities, saying, “After the Met Ball, I went home to change my shoes, and I ended up getting in bed with my mom and ordering room service and falling asleep. | Kristen Stewart Soldiers Up On The Set Of ‘Camp X-Ray’ Posted: 18 Jul 2013 11:13 AM PDT  Here’s a look we’ve never seen Kristen Stewart rocking before: camo fatigues. The 23-year-old actress, who typically sticks to a backwards baseball cap and skinny jeans, was spotted on the set of her new film wearing a full military getup. No, no — this isn’t a second attempt at a remake of Private Benjamin, thank goodness. Stewart is the star of the upcoming Camp X-Ray. K. Stew plays a soldier sent to Guantanamo Bay who befriends a prisoner in the film, which is slated for release in 2014. The movie also stars Lane Garrison (who is known for his work in Prison Break, funnily enough), as well as Tara Holt and Joseph Julian Soria. Kristen is back on set after a whirlwind few months of Paris fashion week goin’, USA roadtrippin,’ and tattoo getting. It was announced on Tuesday that the young star and her ex, Robert Pattinson, are up for a Teen Choice Award for their work in Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II. The award just happens to be Choice Lip Lock. Hmm. Even though Kristen’s summer began with heartbreak, it seems like she’s getting back to business as usual. Just try to not piss her off. Funny! But hold off on the EGOT talk; Knowles herself wasn’t nominated, as she wasn’t listed as a producer. Still, congrats are in order, I guess. (The special received two additional nominations in technical categories, as well.) | Jake Gyllenhaal Exits ‘Into the Woods,’ Deprives Us of His Singing Voice Posted: 18 Jul 2013 05:34 AM PDT  Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal has exited Disney’s Into the Woods due to a scheduling conflict with the just-greenlit Nightcrawler, The Wrap announced late Wednesday. Gyllenhaal was expected to play Rapunzel’s Prince in the movie-musical adaptation, opposite Anna Kendrick, Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep. He’ll now play a “small-time Los Angeles criminal who gets a little too swept up in the nocturnal world of the city’s crime journalism community” in the film from writer-turned-director Dan Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy). |
| Here Are This Year’s Netflix-Loving Emmy Nominations Posted: 18 Jul 2013 11:05 AM PDT  Aaron Paul and Neil Patrick Harris woke up early Wednesday morning to announce the 2013 Emmy nominees. Kate Mara was supposed to be there, but her flight was delayed and she couldn’t make it. Fortunately, NPH wakes up at 3:00 every morning and puts on a suit, just in case anyone needs him to host anything. There aren’t too many surprises among the list, but Netflix picks up its first 15 Emmy nominations. American Horror Story: Asylum took in the most nominations of the morning at 17, though HBO’s Game of Thrones was close behind with 16. On the comedy side, Emmy voters opted to bid 30 Rock a fond farewell, nominating it 13 times. Jane Lynch choked up as she reminisced about her late costar and the “real bright light” he brought to the world during her Wednesday night appearance on Tonight Show with Jay Leno. “Cory’s one of the biggest hearts, was a real bright light,” she said solemnly, fighting back tears. “He was one of those guys that … you know, he knew he was breathing rarefied air … the gifts that this wonderful show gave us. He was always aware that this [show] was a gift.” “He was one of those adventurous types of people,” she continued. “I always admired how he would get up … you know, he’d fly to Mexico, he’d throw parties for his friends. And I don’t think he left one day unlived. And he was a real bright light in our family and we’ve lost a really great guy.” Asked how she would like Monteith to be remembered, Lynch shared a heart-warming story. “He once flew across the country on his own nickel to meet with a sick kid who his last wish was to meet him,” she recalled. “That’s just the kind of guy he was. He was just a real giver.” |
