It was gayer, grander and glitzier than any of us could have imagined. Michael Douglas and Matt Damon played their roles perfectly (as did Damon’s butt), and who’d have thought that Rob Lowe would steal the show as Dr. Jack Startz? Add too much botox on top of an already-gorgeous mug, and you’ve got yourself an early 80s plastic surgeon (complete with a leisure suit). “When I walked on the set and looked at Michael with his fat suit and caftan, Matt in his velour, butt-hugger shorts and Farrah wig, and me as Startz — I said, ‘It's over for all of us. This is it,’” Lowe said in an interview, according to the Huffington Post. ”There were days when I would go, ‘This is the end, for sure, of my career.’” Hell no, Lowe! It did the exact opposite. Tweets were coming in left and right about the cast performances, and some were just as entertaining as the movie itself. On Sunday, the Oscar winner received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree at Brown University during its annual commencement in Providence, R.I. "This is a spectacular honor for me . . . Not only for the education, but I now surpass Matt Damon," Affleck said in his speech. [via Providence Journal] As previously announced by the university, the 40-year-old actor and director was one of six individuals who received honorary degrees this year. Author Junot Diaz received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree. Congratulations, new Brown graduates. |

| ‘Fast & Furious 6’ On Pace to Win Memorial Day Weekend Box Office With $122M… and Counting Posted: 26 May 2013 12:46 PM PDT  Cars were huge this weekend. In addition to the Indy 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix, Vin Diesel and the Fast & Furious 6 crew fired up their engines at the box office. The action film — the last of the franchise under Justin Lin's direction — is expected to take in $122 million by the end of Memorial Day Monday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. (A seventh Fast & Furious movie will be directed by James Wan of the Saw franchise). Fast & Furious 6 will give Universal Pictures its biggest opening in North America of all time, and, along with fellow newbies The Hangover Part III and the animated flick Epic, the biggest Memorial Day weekend in box office history with a total of $322 million. The third Hangover film, reuniting the likes of Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and all the good things in Las Vegas, is projected to finish the holiday weekend in second place with $64 million (far behind Fast 6, despite the Hangover's early opening on Thursday). Close behind is J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness — the projected four-day total is around $48 million, as it slowly creeps towards the $200 million mark. Epic and Iron Man 3 round out the weekend's top five. |

The other highlight of the day came from all the star sightings in Monaco, from Stacy Keibler to David Hasselhoff. Meanwhile Nicole Scherzinger‘s beau Lewis Hamilton finished the Grand Prix in fourth place, behind Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. “Roscoe putting on his sunnies getting ready for his dad’s race this morning.. Let’s go dad!” Scherzinger wrote on Twitter before the race, along with a snapshot of her adorable pup wearing a pair of shades. |
