Judging the Upfronts By Their Cover: Fox

Posted: 13 May 2013 11:02 AM PDT

Every spring, each major television network announces its primetime schedule for the next fall. Many new shows will premiere, but few will make it past November. Here at Celebuzz, we know your time is valuable so we’re picking which of these new shows is worth your time, completely site unseen.

Almost Human

What’s it about?: Set in the future, the show revolves around two sort of-robot, sort of-human police officers (get it? Almost Human?) who are paired together to fight crime and investigate a mysterious cover-up.

Who’s involved?: The show is executive produced by J.J. Abrams and was created by J.H. Wyman of Fringe. The officers involved are played by Karl Urban (Star Trek) and Michael Ealy (Common Law). Lili Taylor of Six Feet Under also stars.

When will it air?: Monday at 8:00 EST, starting in late fall

The Verdict: Introducing another cop show is hardly an exciting choice by Fox, but J.J. Abrams’ involvement could give this thing wings. Holding the future of both the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises in his hands, Abrams is practically a nerd god at this point. It will surely garner enough fans to keep it on the air. Give it an episode or two, but don’t expect anything more than another crime procedural.

Sleepy Hollow

What’s it about?: One part National Treasure and two parts in bad taste, this show is a modern retelling of Sleepy Hollow in which Ichabod Crane finds himself resurrected in the present and teaming up with a police officer to solve a mystery dating back to the 18th century in order to save the world.

Who’s involved?: The show is co-created by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the Fringe creators who aren’t J.J. Abrams). It stars Tom Mison (One Day) as Ichabod and Nicole Beharie (42) as his partner in world-saving and sexual tension. Washington Irving‘s rolling corpse is not involved.

When will it air?: Monday at 9:00 EST

The Verdict: No.

Dads

What’s it about?: Two thirtysomething video gaming entrepreneurs’ lives are flipped upside down when their dads move in with them. Wackiness ensues.

Who’s involved?: From the men who brought you Ted (yes that includes Seth MacFarlane). The two sons are played by Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi (My Name is Earl) and their fathers are played by Peter Riegert (The Good Wife) and Martin Mull (Two and a Half Men). Throw in Vanessa Minnillo Lachey as a trophy wife and, boom, you’ve got yourself a TV show.

When will it air?: Tuesday at 8:00 EST

The Verdict: While 100 percent of Seth MacFarlane fans will enjoy this show, no one else will. Seek out the nearest alley where high schoolers smoke weed to find someone to talk to about it.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

What’s it about?: An ensemble comedy about Brooklyn’s fictional 99th precinct. This show will do everything it can to be “the new Office.”

Who’s involved?: This promising cast is helmed by Andy Samberg but also includes Andre Braugher (Homicide: Life on the Street; Law and Order: SVU), Melissa Fumero (Gossip Girl), Terry Crews (Are We There Yet?), Joe Lo Truglio (Superbad), Stephanie Beatriz (Modern Family) and Chelsea Peretti (previously a writer for Parks and Recreation and a rising star in the stand-up world).

When will it air?: Tuesday at 8:30 EST

The Verdict: Fox is clearly confident, adding it to its Tuesday night comedy block with The New Girl and The Mindy Project. Definitely put this one in your DVR, it’s an early frontrunner for 2013′s breakout TV show.

Rake

What’s it about?: Greg Kinnear is a brilliant defense attorney who’s great at work and even better at partying. It’s based on an Australian show of the same name.

Who’s involved?: For American audiences, Kinnear is just about the only draw.

When will it air?: Thursday at 9:00 EST, starting midseason after Glee goes on hiatus

The Verdict: Kinnear is nearly always funny, but there’s just something about a show about a womanizing attorney that fails to feel fresh or new. But do with you want with your Thursday, we’ve all been lost since 30 Rock left us.

Junior Masterchef

What’s it about?: It’s MasterChef, but for kids between eight and 13. America’s Kidz Got Singing anybody? Its name may change.

Who’s involved?: Gordon Ramsay

When will it air?: Friday at 8:00 EST

The Verdict: The best parts about a cooking show are the kitchen fights and watching adults absolutely eviscerate each other over beets. But kids? Count us out.

Enlisted

What’s it about?: Three brothers find themselves stationed on the same Florida army base. One is the boss.

Who’s involved?: Geoff Stults (Wedding Crashers) is the “charming” oldest brother, Chris Lowell (Private Practice) is the “sarcastic” middle brother and Parker Young (Suburgatory) is the “hyper-enthusiastic” youngest brother.

When will it air?: Friday at 9:30 EST, starting in the late fall

The Verdict: This show sounds like it could have a lot of heart. And while airing it on Friday is usually a bad sign, airing after Bones and Raising Hope could be a big lead-in for Enlisted. We’ll give it a try, if for nothing more than the men in uniform.

Other shows that have been picked up, but not yet placed on the fall schedule are Gang Related (cop show), Surviving Jack (Chris Meloni), Us & Them (Alexis Bledel and Jason Ritter are in love) and Murder Police (animated cop show).

Selena Gomez Is Set to Be a Big Sister

Posted: 13 May 2013 10:59 AM PDT

Selena Gomez with pregnant mom Manday Teefey

The stork will soon be making a special delivery to Selena Gomez‘s family: her mom is pregnant!

The “Come and Get It” singer shared the news ever so suitably on Mother’s Day, tweeting a sweet snap her caressing mom Mandy Teefey‘s blossoming baby bump.

“Hope all the amazing moms had a great day!” Gomez tweeted on Sunday, reuniting with her mother after returning from a work trip to Miami, where she attended a private listening party for her upcoming album Stars Dance. “I have the best momma in the world :)) I love you so much!”

The child will be the second for Teefey, 37, who divorced Selena’s father, Ricardo Gomez, when the then-Disney darling was just 5.

But it will be Teefey’s first bundle of joy with husband Brian Teefey, who she tied the knot with in 2006. The couple had be expecting in 2011, but sadly lost the child.

Holly Madison Announces Wedding Date

Posted: 13 May 2013 10:44 AM PDT

Church bells are in Holly Madison‘s immediate future.

The former Girls Next Door star set her wedding date for Aug. 14 during her documentary, Holly Has a Baby, that aired Sunday night.

During the E! special, which centered around the 33-year-old welcoming daughter Rainbow Aurora, Madison revealed that she wanted to wait until boyfriend Pasquale Rotella proposed before getting ahead of herself with details.

Madison gave birth to the couple’s first child on March 5.

“It was fun,” told Celebuzz of the making of her documentary. “I thought it would be really fun — something for Rainbow to look back on when she’s older.”

Zoë Saldana: How Spock’s Romance and Bromance Size Up in ‘Star Trek’

Posted: 13 May 2013 09:48 AM PDT

Kirk and Spock — it may be the most beloved bromance in science fiction history.

The iconic intergalactic pair has brought back to life in J.J. Abrams reboot of the Star Trek franchise, with Chris Pine taking the captain’s chair as James T. Kirk and Zachary Quinto stepping into the shoes of his Star Fleet sidekick, Mister Spock.

In the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness, Kirk faces some competition as the apple of Spock’s eye — in Uhura, the easy-on-the-eyes U.S.S. Enterprise communications officer played by the beautiful ZoĆ« Saldana.

“Mine is a romance, theirs is a bromance. Isn't that funny?” Saldana told to Celebuzz‘s Cory Lopez of the on-screen “love” triangle. But at the root, the two relationships are quite similar, as both Kirk and Uhura are helping Spock find a balance in his half-human, half-Vulcan heritage.

“We're having parallel dilemmas. With Kirk and Spock, it's about, why don't you trust your gut every now and then instead of always trying to do what's right, dictated by a manual or something?” Saldana explained. “You're disregarding the heart and your gut, and your instinct can sometimes be right over your rationale.”

“And Uhura…is trying to encourage Spock to be more in touch with his feelings,” she continued. “I strongly feel that Uhura has tapped into Spock's struggle with accepting his human side, thinking that he will be weaker if he does so. I like the fact that J.J. [Abrams]…wanted to sort of dive into that and sort of showcase it and find out if Uhura could be a form of inspiration for Spock's encouragement to embrace it finally.”

Stick with Celebuzz this week to see more coverage of Star Trek Into Darkness, including interviews with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Alive Eve and much more.

Aww, Justin Bieber Pulled His Mom On Stage for Mother’s Day

Posted: 13 May 2013 11:31 AM PDT

Justin Bieber pulled his mom on stage for his concert on Mother's Day, May 12th, 2013.

Justin Bieber really knows how to celebrate his beloved momma!

Justin may have been busy crushing beers and becoming an animated version of himself earlier this week, but this Sunday was all about mom. Bieber paid tribute the woman who gave him life by surprising her at his concert in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Biebs pulled his moms, Pattie Mallette, on to the stage and proceeded to serenade her to the sweet sounds of his hit song, ‘One Less Lonely Girl.’ Makes that now-rotting fruit basket you expedited to your mother seem pretty pale in comparison, eh? Hey, we can’t all be international superstars.

Beiber tweeted the cute pic of him and his mommy along with the message, “love my momma. Great night tonight.” Pattie also tweeted, “So yep.. @justinbieber surprised me for mother’s day tonight & brought me out for OLLG! #verysweet.”

Get this kid a ‘world’s greatest son’ mug STAT!

Naya Rivera Puts All Other Beach Bodies To Shame

Posted: 13 May 2013 11:27 AM PDT

Rawr! All it takes is a little leopard-print bikini for Naya Rivera to turn up the heat.

The Glee star showed off her toned beach body in a tiny two-piece as she hit the sizzling-hot sands of Honolulu, Hawaii, with rapper boyfriend Big Sean on Sunday.

Looking perfectly put-together with a oversize shades, a top knot and a ruby-red pout, a smiley Rivera soaked up the rays as she took to the surf for some paddleboarding with her board short-wearing beau.

The day of sun-soaked rest and relaxation followed Big Sean taking the stage at Honolulu’s Aloha Tower Marketplace on Saturday night. “1st show in Hawaii last night was awesome,” the G.O.O.D. Music rapper tweeted. “Many more to come, thanks to the few thousand that came out…”

But between shows, Big Sean has been squeezing in some good times with Rivera and a group of pals.

Including some island games.

Courtney Stodden’s Date Night Involved Wearing This Leopard Minidress

Posted: 13 May 2013 07:15 AM PDT

Courtney Stodden and her much-older husband Doug Hutchison went out for a date Sunday night at Dan Tana’s in West Hollywood.

Based on everything we’ve seen from Stodden before, the cut-out leopard minidress she wore was actually quite tame, dare we say appropriate, for a dinner in West Hollywood.

Granted, her strap did fall off at one point, and the cut of her dress tip-toed dangerously close to the border, if you know what I mean. But, hey, it could have been much worse.

Stodden became famous famous in 2011 when she married Hutchison, then 51, at the young age of 16. She’s since become infamous for her wacky ensembles and for that time she tried to become a pop star.

Heidi Klum Celebrated Mother’s Day in a Bikini

Posted: 13 May 2013 09:34 AM PDT

Ageless wonder Heidi Klum celebrated her Mother’s Day in the best possible way: by floating around in a pool and sipping on a wine glass.

Naturally, the 39-year-old TV personality (who is a mother of four, by the way) basked in her rock-hard abs and model-perfect smile and every other way in which she continues to defy all age and logic. Then, she tweeted:

Happy Mother’s Day! Best Mother’s Day ever….

Yeah. We get it.

Jack Bauer is Coming Back to Television

Posted: 13 May 2013 06:57 AM PDT

It’s just the news 24 fans were waiting for: Fox is bringing the popular show back for a special 12-episode run in May 2014. It will be called 24: Live Another Day and both Kiefer Sutherland (who plays Jack Bauer) and original showrunner Howard Gordon (now working on Homeland) will return.

The show’s format will be a little different this time around. Originally each season of 24 was 24 episodes long with each hourlong episode unfolding in real time to tell the story of one full day. This time around, the 12-episode season will focus on a more than 24 hour period according to Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly.

“I miss the character terribly and I know Kiefer does, too,” Reilly said, confirming the show’s return this morning.

It’s been a long road for 24 which originally aired on Fox from 2001-2010. Last year plans for a film adaptation of the show fell through after 20th Century Fox and Imagine TV couldn’t agree on a budget. It’s n0t yet clear if the show’s new season will lead to another effort to bring Jack Bauer to the big screen.

@RoyalReview Recaps Prince Harry’s Trip To Colorado

Posted: 13 May 2013 06:43 AM PDT

Prince Harry White Polo Close-Up Warrior Games 2013

Prince Harry’s historic trip to the 2013 Warrior Games went off without a hitch.  After landing in Colorado on Friday night, the spare helped serenade Olympian Missy Franklin for her birthday.  Then it was off to Colorado Springs for a sporting event that brought together both UK and US wounded veterans and their supporters.

The cause is one that’s very close to Harry’s heart, as he’s a patron of the UK’s Walking With The Wounded, and recently announced that he’ll travel to the South Pole with the organization.

We’ve been following Kelly Harrison of Keep Calm and Harry On throughout the prince’s US tour, who’s given us a play-by-play on our favorite ginger.

Fact: Harry’s a fast walker and bites his nails, Harrison noted.  Oh, and he’s not afraid to use the most public of restrooms:

Aaaand he’s not above being part of a human pyramid.

Fox Addresses ‘American Idol’ Rumors, Says ‘Everything Is On the Table’ for Next Season

Posted: 13 May 2013 08:28 AM PDT

Amid rumors that all four American Idol judges are being replaced next season, Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly confirmed on Monday that nothing is set in stone as the show’s struggling 12th season limps to a close.

Asked whether Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban (Randy Jackson has already confirmed his departure) are welcome to return to the show next year, Reilly told reporters:

Welcome back? Absolutely. But everything at this point is on the table.

In the meantime, Reilly says that “a few fresh twists” are being made for the show’s upcoming 13th season. It’s also “likely” that the show will return to its original three-judge panel.

As for why Idol, which has recently seen its lowest ratings in over 10 years, isn’t connecting with audiences this season, Reilly says formatting changes and the show’s 11-year-old age are to blame.

"We expanded some of the middle rounds we did a boy-girl thing that went over three weeks — that's really where the ratings took their biggest hit,” he said. “The only thing I will confirm is next year, without getting into any specifics, our next season begins on the Friday morning after our [Idol] finale — that's when we're really going to get to work in earnest.”

American Idol season 12 concludes on Thursday.

Watch: Katy Perry Dances on Mick Jagger While Dueting With The Rolling Stones

Posted: 13 May 2013 06:44 AM PDT

It was a little bit pop and a little bit rock ‘n roll when Katy Perry joined forces with the The Rolling Stones on stage Saturday night during the group’s tour stop at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Dolled up in a bustier-topped mini dress, Perry lent her vocal prowess to a rendition of the legendary rock band’s 1978 hit “Beast of Burden,” gyrating up on frontman Mick Jagger.

“I think dancing on Mick is something that women from all decades would love to accomplish, so I'm glad to accomplish it in 2013,” Perry said of performing with the iconic ladies’ man, later tweeting, “Thanks for letting me be the 5th wheel last night!”

“That was great,” Jagger said on stage. “I enjoyed that one!”

By the look on Perry’s face, it’s safe to say she did, too.

Perry becomes just the latest singer to roll with the Stones on their 50 & Counting tour, which has seen the likes of Gwen Stefani, Tom Waits and Keith Urban having teamed up with the long-running British band at earlier stop.

So what star will step out with the Stones next? Fingers crossed for Queen B!

‘Revenge’ Season Finale Recap: Terrorism Hits The Hamptons and Emily Plays Her Most Major Card

Posted: 13 May 2013 06:18 AM PDT

I went into the second season finale of ABC’s Revenge with a whole lot of questions.

What was the purpose of wiping New York’s power out? Was Victoria’s (Madeleine Stowe) long-lost first-born secretly lurking around the Hamptons even though he had been paid handsomely to stay away? What would Aiden (Barry Sloane) do now that he killed his mentor and was on edge about Emily’s (Emily VanCamp) re-engagement? Does Jack (Nick Wechsler) know what he’s doing, dealing with the Graysons? Who wouldn’t survive the year? And good God, did Declan (Connor Paolo) really procreate!?

Since Revenge has been renewed for a third season, though, not everything could get answered, the writers preferring instead to let things dangle for next year, but so much more did than I expected. This was two hours extremely well spent!

Note: Spoilers ahead if you have yet to see Sunday night's season finale.

A lot did go down in this season finale, despite not everything I wanted happening. I thought it was best to bullet-point the action in order to cover all the ground in a concise recap.

  • The Blackout: Nolan (Gabriel Mann) was the only one who seemed to be “on it,” trying to figure out how the blackout was triggered, and more importantly, how to turn the grids back on. Emily caught him up to where the audience was at the end of last week, but not without a few excruciating moments of confused-face first. Then it turns into full-on panic that Aiden would befall a similar fate to David Clarke’s, and that’s what made him double-time his attempts to be a hero and create a fake digital trail of cover for him. The actual blackout, though, was over quicker than it should have been.
  • The aftermath of Takeda’s death: Emily was once again heartbroken to find someone she genuinely cared about dead, and though this one didn’t die in front of her, she still felt like she should have been able to prevent such a thing. Still, her mission of revenge was set up because of Takeda, and she wanted to continue on in his memory, so she ended up going through his things to find clues as to who could have taken him out. Like she needed a new name to add to her list; she’s strayed far enough already! But this show needs to stretch its story at least over another season, and the emotional turmoil that will come with learning your boyfriend killed your father figure should be pretty juicy. In Takeda’s box, though, Emily found a photo with a face circled and first wrongly assumed he was the killer and that she’d have to warn her boyfriend he, too, could be in danger.
  • Conrad’s political campaign: In the middle of Conrad’s (Henry Czerny) latest speech, the Hamptons gets a mass text message saying “Long live David Clarke,” and that’s when Grayson Global was bombed. Of course, Conrad immediately spun the event to try to win public support. He had already been making a speech about NYers’ strength, and “We are the first responders!” He bellowed at the cameras that were on-hand for his perfect press op. But he also admitted that his son had cleared out the company, which made things stink like the sewage that sometimes floats in the Atlantic, and it was a piece of leverage that it turned out he needed against his son, who told him he wanted out of the company altogether.
  • Charlotte’s pregnancy: Charlotte (Christa B. Allen) didn’t make any decisions about what she wanted to do with the baby, but she certainly went on a rollercoaster of emotions about the baby daddy, provoked not by newfound hormones but instead her new BFF Regina (Seychelle Gabriel). It turned out Regina was not getting close to Charlotte just to suck off the teat of fame but because she had a crush on her. She concocted some kind of convoluted story for Charlotte about Declan beating her up and robbing her, and despite Charlotte knowing Declan better than anyone, she believed the story for awhile before Declan called Charlotte to tell him he knew (Victoria dropped the bombshell in his lap)– and that her friend wasn’t what she seemed because she saved a video of them kissing. It was completely childish because unless she was planning to sell it to a tabloid, it shouldn’t matter what she did with it in private, but she was so childish, too, she couldn’t admit to Charlotte what was really going on, and their friendship was not sadly short-lived. But I still wish she had ended up alongside Tyler and Amanda and the Initiative lady and even Takeda as not-so-loved and permanently lost characters.
  • The Initiative: Yes, they were still talking about it! But the truth finally came out: the Initiative was just a ridiculous, ominous name given to a group of businesspeople doing shady and often illegal deals for their own best interests. They were hiding behind a secretive group title to avoid being caught and held personally responsible, or you know, tried for their sins. Conrad was in on it the whole time, using it to manipulate his son, among millions. Victoria wasn’t.
  • Terrorism in the Hamptons: Grayson Global was bombed. Thankfully the company had been pretty much cleared out, but all that meant was no random extras were harmed in the filming of this episode. Instead, though, a few key characters were caught in the crossfire: Daniel, whose father told the public his son cleared out the building, which made it look like he knew it was coming; Declan, who for reasons unknown (maybe he was lured there by Victoria who wanted to harm him after learning he got her daughter pregnant) or maybe he was following his big brother like the lost puppy that he is, who also was lured there but by Ashley (Ashley Madekwe), and Aiden, who was set up as the terrorist. But after the police investigated, it was actually Nolan they were looking at as the real person of interest.
  • The Promised Death: It was Declan! After getting hurt in the bombing, he ended up in the hospital long enough to talk about raising the baby with Charlotte and make Nolan promise to look after Jack, but then he succumbed to his injuries.
  • A Second Death?: When Daniel showed up at Emily’s, only to find Aiden there instead, the two got in quite the pissing contest, only they used fists to settle the score. Daniel had a lot of pent-up aggression from a combination of things with Emily, Aiden, and his father, and unfortunately he took all of his shortcomings, frustrations, and insecurities out on Aiden, who tried to convince Daniel to let Emily go. Now, we didn’t actually see Aiden get shot, but during the fight, Daniel did find Emily’s gun, and later, Daniel had blood on his shirt. You could argue that blood could be from a fist-fight, sure, but Aiden isn’t the kind of guy who wouldn’t finish the fight if he could, just ask Takeda!
  • This is Jack’s Uninformed Plan: Jack still thought he could trust Victoria for a good chunk of this finale. He was naive enough to think she didn’t know about David Clarke being set up, and he was naive enough to let her in on the fact that Ashley was in on things with him. But Declan’s death was the fuel that propelled him further down the road of personal revenge. He pulled a gun on Victoria to get her, and the audience, to realize how serious he was about things. He told her she had to be the one to tell Charlotte about Declan, and he was off to see Conrad about actually shooting someone.
  • Emily and Aiden: As aforementioned, Emily was not happy to learn her boyfriend killed her father figure. She saw the bruises on him and figured it out before he could admit it, which made things worse. He tried to claim Takeda had his own agenda because his fiancee was on the doomed flight, and that, too, added up against him. Still, Emily promised to still help Nolan prove Aiden was innocent of any framing Daniel was attempting, which got a lot harder after the events at Grayson Global, which Daniel of course assumed was Aiden’s doing. Aiden tried to convince Emily to leave with him; he wasn’t quite going on the run, but he was still getting the hell out of the Hamptons while the heat was on him. She couldn’t, or there’d be no season three.
  • Emily and Daniel: After an episode with an engagement party, Emily and Daniel didn’t spend much time together, so nothing really changed overtly in their relationship. But emotionally, the toll of everything took its turn on her, and she wouldn’t be able to deny Daniel’s involvement in things simply for his bloodline. The most important thing to come out of her time with Daniel tonight was that while she visited him, it provided a plot-pushing-forward moment where she recognized an IT guy as the guy in Takeda’s photo and realized something was about to go down.
  • Emily and Jack: Though Jack demanded Emily stay away from his family, she couldn’t keep him far from her mind. When Nolan IDed the guy from Takeda’s photo through facial recognition software and got a match that the guy was an assassin of sorts– she worried he was after Jack, who was sent to Grayson Global on a fool’s errand by Ashley. She searched the building, amidst the smoke and debris until she had to literally be pulled out just to make sure he was okay. But he was too distracted to consider what that meant. It wasn’t until she tracked him down going after Conrad that things got really interesting. She was hell-bent on keeping his hands free and clean of blood; she never wanted him to get so mixed up in this mess. She did the only thing she could to get him to be sweet ole Jack again: she told him the truth. That she was Amanda Clarke. It was the cliffhanger moment, but I have to imagine there’s going to be a lot of initial disbelief from Jack, assuming she’s only saying things to confuse him, and then anger at being duped when she manages to prove her real identity. If I had to put money on it, I’d say her lying to him is only going to push him further away as it not only taints his memories of his childhood friend and long-time love but also his recent wife, for whom he had very real feelings (and you know, a son!) regardless of her name.
  • Patrick: Home alone, Victoria couldn’t work up the words to tell her daughter about Declan, but she had a much bigger problem on her hands because her first-born son finally came a knockin’! Literally. He is in the Hamptons now, but how long has he been there!?

Buzz Moments

OMG!: Would they really make Daniel a killer? Sure, it would make him waaay more interesting, but it would remove not only an important Revenger ally but also a personal complication. And removing too many conflicts makes a story take a back step.

Thank you, TV gods: Ding, dong, Declan’s gone! They trimmed the fat, for sure. Now they just need to bump Ashley off, too, and the show will be a lean, mean, interesting story machine.

Awk-ward: Emily and Victoria actually had a conversation about how alike they are. We were all thinking it, but it’s not something we wanted, or expected, to hear aloud.

Hotness: You could hear congestion in VanCamp’s voice, but despite being under the weather, she delivered an on-point performance through all the emotional ups and downs and looked great doing it.

Fab-u-lous: Nolan still gets all the best lines. Tonight’s gem was about his only post-apocalyptic survival plans being to “call Emily.”

Can. Not. Wait.: Yeah, I should care about what Emily’s revelation means for her and Jack, but honestly, I just want to know who the new eye-candy will be next season aka who will they cast as Patrick? Or did they already cast someone; what if Patrick is the IT guy/assassin!?

Celebuzz Meter (1-10): 8 – They finally officially got rid of the Initiative, set up a juicy story for Nolan, killed the useless Declan, and had Emily reveal herself not only to someone important but the most important one. If only these things hadn’t taken so long to happen, I would have graded the whole season this high!

Savannah Guthrie Gets Engaged, Flowers From Bradley Cooper

Posted: 13 May 2013 06:19 AM PDT

Finally, some good news for the TODAY show: Savannah Guthrie is engaged to marry her boyfriend of four years, Michael Feldman, the bubbly anchor confirmed at the top of Monday’s episode.

Guthrie, 41, said that Feldman popped the question on Mother’s Day.

This will mark the second marriage for Guthrie, who was previously married to BBC News presenter Mark Orchard. They divorced in 2009.

Naturally, the staff at TODAY, who have been at the center of a media firestorm since the show acrimoniously fired Ann Curry last summer, was elated when they heard the good news — even rusty old Matt Lauer, who tweeted the photo, above.

But no one was more excited, it seemed, than guest Bradley Cooper, who surprised Guthrie will a bouquet of roses.

First Trailer for ‘Arrested Development’ Season Four Starts ‘Final Countdown’

Posted: 13 May 2013 06:21 AM PDT

Operation Hot Mother is a go. With less than two weeks before Arrested Development‘s long-awaited fourth season, a trailer has been released. It features everything an AD fan could want: Michael, GOB, Lindsey, George Michael, Lucille, Tobias, George, Maeby and Buster. Plus an ostrich, a vulture, magic tricks illusions and Buster’s good old hook.

This season picks up in real time after we last saw the Bluths. Some things have changed: Michael looks to have finally moved to Phoenix and George Michael and Maeby are in college. Some things, however, stay the same: Tobias and Lindsey are still having marital problems and, of course, Buster still lives at home with mom.

If you’re anything like us, you’re about to blue yourself with anticipation, but hopefully this 1:36 teaser can hold you until the 26th.

Go Inside Chris Pine’s $3 Million Los Angeles Panty-Dropping Palace

Chris Pine's Los Feliz $3M Home

Captain Kirk's got one out of this world man cave.

When he's not saving the world in Star Trek: Into Darkness, big screen heartthrob Chris Pine is putting his feet up pretty nicely in this incredible Mediterranean home located in a gated Los Angeles compound on a stunning 1.5-acres.

The newly-single 32-year-old hunk bought the 2,200 square-foot home in 2010 with all that newfound dough he made after the super success of the first Star Trek from previous owner actor Jason Lee. The price tag: a cool $3.104 million.

The enchanting 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom European-style, custom-built manse is located in the exclusive Los Feliz neighborhood of L.A. and sits on a whopping 61,490 square foot lot that showcases the posh property’s artistic landscaping.

And this isn't like any other bachelor pad. Built in 1948, this architecturally-unique home features a private spa and secret garden adjacent to the master bedroom, glistening pool, dining area with… get this… walls of glass that open to the lush grounds, party-ready chef’s kitchen with Viking appliances and Sub-Zero fridge, patio with fireplace and BBQ, wine cellar, and even Zinfandel vines to harvest.

If that wasn't enough to epitomize Pine’s leading man status, this Trekkie’s heard-earned cash also gets him rich hardwood floors, beamed ceilings, separate office and studio, guest house, and priceless views of the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory.

Prince Harry And Missy Franklin Are BFFs Now

OK, maybe not BFFs, but the pair did meet over the weekend in Colorado as Prince Harry continued with his U.S. visit. Franklin, who turned 18 on Friday, got a special gift from the royal heartthrob — he sang "Happy Birthday" to the Olympian! Check out photos from the reception here.

Speaking Of Royals, When's That Baby Due?

Write it down in your calendars: Kate Middleton is reportedly due on July 13, smack in the middle of Queen Elizabeth's four-day Coronation Festival. But the palace is staying mum on the date, only confirming the month. Hmm…

Jay Gatsby Wasn't Strong Enough To Beat Tony Stark…

… at the box office. Iron Man 3 grossed another $72.5 million at the weekend box office. What's more impressive, the film's worldwide totals now stand at some $950 million after only two weeks. The Great Gatsby, meanwhile, finished at No. 2 with $51.1 million.

"It's Late Night with Seth Meyers!"

That's probably what the announcer will say early next year, when Seth Meyers takes over Late Night duties. On Sunday, NBC announced that the Saturday Night Live head writer has been hired for the gig, as Jimmy Fallon gears up for The Tonight Show. What did Meyers have to say about his new job and the one and only Lorne Michaels?

In Other SNL News…

Kristen Wiig made her grand return to studio 8H as host, nearly one year after leaving the show and ending a fantastic seven seasons. As expected, a ton of Wiig's beloved characters also made their return. Watch some highlights here.
