Watch: Why Beyonce Puts The ‘Queen’ In Queen Bey

Posted: 22 Feb 2013 12:20 PM PST

God save Queen Beyonce.

A new extended teaser of the singer’s upcoming Mrs. Carter Show world tour has just been released, and in true hip-hop royalty fashion, Mrs. Jay-Z reigns supreme.

In the promo, which advertises the 31-year-old’s six shows in London’s O2 arena, Queen Bey struts her stuff in a Marie Antoinette-inspired getup, complete with a plethora of gold accessories.

The “Crazy in Love” singer announced her world tour just hours after performing at the Super Bowl halftime show in early February.

The 42-city tour will kick off on April 15 in Belgrade, Serbia, and wraps up on Aug. 4 in her husband’s hometown of Brooklyn, N.Y.

The pre-sale for most of Beyonce’s tour dates have already commenced, with tickets to her O2 shows open for general release on Saturday.

The complete list of Beyonce’s tour date is now available on her official website.

We Bet You Thought These Stars Already Won An Oscar

Posted: 22 Feb 2013 01:04 PM PST

After 85 years of dispensing awards, the Oscars have become something of a measuring stick for judging, and then recognizing, the best and brightest talents in Hollywood. But with so many great movies, performances and behind-the-scenes efforts, and so few slots for nominations, it comes as little surprise that more than a handful of great accomplishments go unrecognized each year.

But after two years? Five? Ten? It seems impossible to think that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences would fail to find some reason why certain industry icons deserve to take home one of those little gold statuettes.

And yet, Celebuzz has found not two, or five, or ten, but 25 performers and filmmakers who have never won an Oscar – and in a few cases, have never received nominations.

While the most egregious oversight in Oscar history might be never awarding a Best Director statuette to Stanley Kubrick, the filmmaker did in fact receive recognition in 1968 for Visual Effects for his work on 2001: A Space Odyssey. And Alfred Hitchcock, another industry luminary, received an honorary Oscar, but was never recognized for an individual film, despite receiving nominations for Psycho and other classic suspense thrillers.

But more recently, actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Liam Neeson and Johnny Depp have failed to win awards against their colleagues and contemporaries, regardless of the fact that they've given some of the most unique, interesting, and perhaps most importantly, memorable performances in cinema history.

Talk a look at Celebuzz's list of 25 stars who never took home Oscars, and then let us know: who do you think deserves an award the most? Leave your comments below for further discussion!

Watch: How Justin Bieber Went From YouTube Phenom To Major Hollywood Player

Posted: 22 Feb 2013 12:18 PM PST

From sold out concerts, soaring album sales, tons of endorsement opportunities and an astronomical fan following, Justin Bieber continues to dominate Hollywood — not to mention our Power Index, where he ranks No. 2.

The music powerhouse — who kicked off the UK leg of his Believe tour in Manchester, England this week — made $55 million between May 2011 to May 2012 alone, according to Forbes, making him the second-richest celebrity under 30.

And while he may have been snubbed at the Grammy’s this year, the teen pop prince is still sitting pretty.

Bieber’s Believe Acoustic has been soaring in sales. Earlier this month, the CD made it to the top of the Billboard 200 Albums chart.

Not bad for a kid who’s just 18 years old.

Launch the video, above, to see what our panel of experts have to say about Bieber’s meteoric rise to stardom.

The 10 Best Looks From Awards Season So Far

Posted: 22 Feb 2013 10:58 AM PST

Sure, it’s nice to see Ben Affleck win a bunch awards of and everything, but everyone knows the real reason to tune into the awards shows is to see the fashion.

And this year’s lineup has proven to be an especially memorable one in the fashion field thanks to the elegant and often daring looks worn by celebrities like Beyonce Knowles, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway and more.

So, with the Oscars just a couple of days away (!), we decided to do a quick recap of our favorite fashion so far this season. From Jennifer Lawrence to one of our favorite scene-stealers, Amanda Seyfried, keep reading for our top 10 favorite red carpet looks.

10.) Jennifer Lawrence – Screen Actors Guild Awards

Lawrence’s fashion this season has been a little hit or miss — but when she hits, she hits. Case in point: The navy Christian Dior Haute Couture dress she wore to the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January, which had everybody talking (especially when it, you know, kind of fell apart, but didn’t really).

9.) Rihanna – Grammy Awards

Even if you don’t agree with her personal life, you can’t deny that Rihanna looked pretty effing awesome at the Grammys, in this custom red gown by Azzedine Alaia. The kicker: its long, flowing train, which made her look all the more Grammy-worthy.

8.) Naomi Watts – Screen Actors Guild Awards

Although we loved the Zac Posen gown she wore to the Golden Globes, it was the Marchesa dress Naomi Watts wore to the SAG awards that proved to be her most shining moment so far this season.

7.) Jessica Chastain  – BAFTAs

After receiving mixed reviews for the sea foam gown she wore to the Golden Globes, Jessica Chastain went for a darker (and ultra-flattering) shade of blue to the BAFTAs in February — and she totally killed it.

6.) Claire Danes – Golden Globe Awards

What baby? Homeland star Claire Danes had one of her best red carpet moments to date in a custom Atelier Versace gown, which she wore to the Golden Globes in January. That she managed to look this good just one month after giving birth makes this red-hot look all the more impressive.

5.) Anne Hathaway – Golden Globe Awards

Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway kicked awards season off on a high note at the Golden Globes, where she showed up in this simply chic column gown by Chanel.

4.) Marion Cotillard – Screen Actors Guild Awards

Always one to take a risk on the red carpet, Rust and Bone beauty Marion Cotillard once again had us saying, “Ooh la la!” when she wore this two-colored gown by Christian Dior to the SAG Awards. Remind us again why she wasn’t nominated for an Oscar?

3.) Taylor Swift – Golden Globe Awards

Hotter after heartbreak, indeed. Just weeks after her split from Harry Styles, Taylor Swift held it together perfectly in this stunning dress by Donna Karan Atelier. She may have lost the Globe to Adele, but in the fashion department, she took home the award.

2.) Beyonce – Grammy Awards

Sometimes, the perfect look doesn’t require a long gown, tons of flair and all that jazz — which is exactly what Beyonce proved when she showed up the Grammys in this simple — but gorgeous — black-and-white jumpsuit by Osman.

1.) Amanda Seyfried – Screen Actors Guild Awards

Anne Hathaway may have had the better role in Les Mis, but co-star Amanda Seyfried has been killing it on the red carpet this season. Her best-in-show moment: This gorgeous blue gown by Zac Posen, which she wore the Screen Actors Guild Awards, in January.

Does Melissa Rivers Miss Hosting the Oscars’ Red Carpet? ‘Not At All’

Posted: 22 Feb 2013 06:48 AM PST

For years, Melissa Rivers and her mother, Joan, were red carpet staples on television, hosting every major awards show for E! and, later, the TV Guide Channel.

But looking back on her experience, the 45-year-old television star — who is now an executive producer forE!’s Fashion Police — says she doesn’t miss the experience at all.

“I feel like it’s become so controlled,” she told Celebuzz in a recent interview. “It’s fun to watch still, but I feel like It’s become so homogenized and everyone is so careful. I miss the days of people not being so guarded. I miss the days when it looked like people were actually having fun.”

“I loved every minute of it, but you always want to leave the party at the right time,” she added.

These days, Rivers still has a connection to the Oscars. In addition to working on Fashion Police, she’s teamed up with Blockbuster for its Awards Night "Fan"-tasy Movie League, in which Oscar-lovers can log on and cast their own ballots.

“You get to basically be in a giant pool,” she said. “It’s like what everyone does at the office, or at home or at their Oscar parties. We all think we’re all so slick and smart. So, c’mon. Let’s lay it down and see what we’ve got!”

She’s also gearing up for the brand-new season of Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best?.

“It’s really about crossing boundaries this year,” she said of the new season. “You get into a lot of stuff that’s very personal. You get to see my relationship with my ex-husband. I decided this year that I needed to get into therapy and start to figure out why I’m not able to have constantly positive relationship with men. That’s very revealing.”

“I got a lot of perspective. I think I grew a lot, emotionally, in the last year, and that is in the season.”

Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best? premieres Saturday night at 9/8c on WE.

Oscar Nominees As Animals

A lot has happened this week: the Oscars are on everyone’s mind, Rihanna turned 25 (and continues, for some reason, to date Chris Brown), and “Harlem Shake” reached the top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart thanks to a revised formula that now includes YouTube streaming. The Worst Moment Of Vanessa Hudgens’ Career Is Probably Just What You Thought

Posted: 22 Feb 2013 09:30 AM PST

Vanessa Hudgens is revealing the naked truth.

In an interview with Paper magazine, the Spring Breakers star opened up about her 2007 nude photo scandal, dubbing the experience “by far the worst moment of my career.”

The actress was only 18 years old when her personal photos were leaked onto the Internet, causing a media ruckus for Hudgens, who at the time was at the peak of her High School Musical career.

"That was just a really sh***y situation that sucked," she said about the controversy, in which she was required to issue an apology in order to stay on board for High School Musical 3.

Now, at age 24, the former Disney starlet has moved on and keeping focus on her acting projects. The actress spoke out on wanting to take edgier, more mature roles.

“Ever since I was young, I wanted to play really heavy and intense roles and really push myself in a dramatic direction,” she admitted.

Hudgens has certainly stayed true to her goal. For the upcoming thriller Frozen Ground, she will portray a drug-addicted prostitute. “I was like, ‘A prostitute! I can play a prostitute! This is going to be exciting,’” she said.

In her latest flick Spring Breakers, Hudgens co-stars alongside Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, and James Franco in the raunchy, gritty indie helmed by Kids director Harmony Korine.

The film has already garnered controversy, mainly because its young stars are placed in above-and-beyond adult scenarios — a far cry from Hudgens’ (and Gomez’s) days on the Disney Channel.

“It’s always been hard for actors to cross that bridge,” she said about transitioning from the tween scene. “But honestly, you have to hold out and do what you think is right for yourself.”

While Hudgens had doubts about taking on her bikini-clad role, it was her father who helped make the final decision.

“He loved 'Kids' so he was really excited for the project. He didn’t read the script, but when he saw that Harmony’s name was attached to it he said, ‘That” going to be a really interesting project,’” she said.

Oscar Predictions: Put Our Newsroom To The Test

Posted: 21 Feb 2013 06:44 AM PST

In just a few short days, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will hold its annual Oscar ceremony, crowning the best and brightest Hollywood has to offer with gorgeous gold statuettes commemorating their greatest achievements – this year, anyway.

If you're at all interested in industry politics, then you've no doubt been paying close attention to the jockeying for position that the year's highest-profile films have done in recent weeks: after Ben Affleck failed to score a nomination for Best Director, his film Argo picked up steam as a film to beat in several major categories, including Best Picture. Meanwhile, director David O. Russell has shopped around the stars of Silver Linings Playbook in an effort to drum up support for the film, which now unexpectedly seems to have a real shot at stealing top honors from the likes of Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty.

But with a few days left to fill out your Oscar ballots for those office pools, we asked Celebuzz' staff who they think should take home some of the ceremony's top prizes.

Asked to submit their picks for the top five categories – Best Picture, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress – Celebuzz' top experts offered their thoughts about who will, and also who should win.

Gabi Chung, Staff Writer

Best Picture: Argo. It's this year's industry darling.
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis. For someone who's highly selective of his roles, this man's track record is amazing. Out of the 20 feature films he's starred in, he's been nominated five times for a Best Actor Oscar and won the actual award twice. It's his year again. The numbers don't lie.
Best Actress: Jennifer Lawrence. Her SAG Award for Female Actor in a Leading Role kind of sealed her fate for this category.
Best Director: Steven Spielberg. Since Ben Affleck — the winner of this year's Director's Guild Award for Argo — isn't nominated for an Oscar, many in the Academy will go for the safe choice and give it to Spielberg.
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway. I'm going with the SAG win argument again.
Best Supporting Actor: Tommy Lee Jones. Again, SAG Awards is always a good prediction of how the Oscar acting awards will be handed out.

Best Actor: Denzel Washington

Cory Lopez, Staff Editor

Best Picture: Argo. From sweeping up several other Best Picture wins this season to all the public outcry of Ben Affleck being snubbed for Best Director, Argo has an edge despite the many beloved folders in this more-crowded-than-ever category.
Best Director: Benh Zeitlin. In his feature directorial debut, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Benh Zeitlin directed a five-year-old no-name to become one of the youngest Best Actress nominees ever.
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis. Forever after this acclaimed performance, Daniel Day-Lewis will live on in our minds as the actualization of Abraham Lincoln.
Best Actress: Jessica Chastain. After Kathryn Bigelow was overlooked for Best Director for helming the year’s most controversial film, it seems only fitting its female lead take the top honor instead.
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway. Though Les Misérables garnered mix reviews, the Academy is always a sucker for a dramatic transformation and, of course, a good cry.
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz. For the second straight Quentin Tarantino film, “supporting actor” Christoph Waltz has shone as the true star.

Cliff Renfrew, Senior Reporter

Best Picture: Lincoln. The scale, storytelling, direction and acting make this my overall favorite pick for best film.
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis. The British actor is simply the best in the business.
Best Actress: Jennifer Lawrence. Jennifer Lawrence is the most exciting and talented young actress in Hollywood and gets my vote this year.
Best Director: Steven Spielberg. No other director deserves it more that Spielberg for making such an interesting movie about such an important historical figure.
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway. Simply the best – she can sing and act, and even looks good with dodgy teeth.
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz. Nobody does danger with a hint of irony better than this German master – worthy of an Oscar.

Matt Russoniello, Community Manager

Best Picture: Either Silver Linings Playbook or Lincoln. Historically, Lincoln is exactly the kind of film that the Academy likes to reward. But Silver Linings Playbook has garnered so much positive attention and goodwill that it definitely stands a chance.
Best Actor: Daniel Day Lewis. He underwent a big transformation for the role, and the consensus is that he deserves a record-breaking third Oscar.
Best Actress: Jennifer Lawrence. People like her not only as an actress, but as a personality. People want to see her take the stage and give a memorable acceptance speech.
Best Director: David O. Russell. He pulled amazing, nomination-worthy performances out of his four main actors. That’s a director’s job; he deserves it.
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway. It just seems unavoidable at this point. It was kind of her year.
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz. He gave the quirkiest, most memorable performance of the bunch.

Andy Scott, Staff Editor

Best Picture: Argo. Ben Affleck’s directing snub should have sealed Argo‘s fate in this category. Ironically, it appears that everyone has decided to rally behind him, instead. Sorry, Lincoln.
Best Director: Steven Spielberg. With Ben Affleck out of the equation, Spielberg seems like the next logical choice to win here. Though wouldn’t it be kind of awesome if Behn Zeitlin won instead?
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis. Why are you even reading this sentence? He’s winning.
Best Actress: Jennifer Lawrence. Years from now, people will look back on this category and ask, “Why did Jennfier Lawrence win?” In the meantime, everyone seems to think she deserves it, so there’s no reason to think that she won’t.
Best Supporting Actor: Tommy Lee Jones. Although, your guess is as good as mine. (Go Hoffman, even if you’re actually Lead!)
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway. Hathaway won the Oscar the second she was cast as Fantine. A "Dream" role, indeed.

Andrea Simpson, Senior News Editor

Best Picture: Zero Dark Thirty. Kathryn Bigelow knows how to move an audience with deeply compelling writing and acting, and like The Hurt Locker, told this story of such a poignant moment in the world's history with such honesty you couldn't take your eyes off the screen.
Best Actor: It's a toss-up between Daniel Day-Lewis and Joaquin Phoenix, but in either case, one word sufficiently describes both actors’ performances: Brilliant.
Best Actress: Jessica Chastain. Her subtle determination made this performance.
Best Director: Steven Spielberg. He's the clear favorite and if he wins, much like the film, he too will go down in American history as only the fourth director to win more than two directing Oscars.
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway. I just hope the Academy spells her name right!
Best Supporting Actor: Alan Arkin. I loved this film, but he made the whole movie worth watching, just waiting for those unexpected one-liners.

Peggy Truong, Contributing Editor

Best Picture: Argo. This will be Ben Affleck’s closest thing to winning Best Director.
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis. He’s been unstoppable all awards season long.
Best Actress: Jennifer Lawrence. Although there’s a lot of history riding on this with Riva and Wallis, JLaw’s performance trumps all the others.
Best Director: David O. Russell. Although my personal pick would be underdog Benh Zeitlin, David O. Russell will win the Oscar.
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway. All hail Anne Hathaway and whatever speech she will make to make us all cry.
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz. This is a weak group of nominees to begin with, but Christoph Waltz’s performance is the strongest of them all.

…And Todd Gilchrist, Senior Film Editor

Best Picture: Argo. Silver Linings Playbook has a real chance at taking this prize given its visibility over the last several weeks, but given the attention heaped upon Affleck specifically because he wasn't nominated, it seems likely that the Academy will reward his effort in some way, this being probably the best and most direct.
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis. Although my sentimental choice has Joaquin Phoenix winning the statutette for what I still believe is truly the best performance of the year, Day-Lewis' pedigree, and quite frankly, his charm in the face of so many previous victories, makes him the front-runner. And yeah, it was also a phenomenal performance.
Best Actress: Jennifer Lawrence. Poised to become the next A-list star with acting chops to match, Lawrence retains a scrappy, don't-give-a-shit attitude that makes her youthfulness sexy without sounding impudent or disrespectful. Jessica Chastain absolutely knocks it out of the park in Zero Dark Thirty, but I feel like the Academy is going to reward her upstart colleague instead.
Best Director: David O. Russell. Spielberg already has his Oscar, and Russell's film has built a head of steam on the charm and talent of its actors, whom the extraordinarily gifted filmmaker coached to some remarkable performances.
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway. The moment she finished that uninterrupted tae where she sings her heart out, looking rumpled and broken and beautiful, the Academy already decided – even if they hadn't seen the end result yet.
Best Supporting Actor: Tommy Lee Jones is such a joyless S.O.B. that his performance in Lincoln seems more like typecasting than a terrific transformation, but it's the kind of turn that the Academy likes – gruff and abrasive while retaining a charming edge, especially given the principle with which his character undertakes his formidable challenges in Lincoln.

What do you think of our picks? And who do you think will take home the gold? Let us know in the comments section below!

Posted: 22 Feb 2013 08:48 AM PST

Wiz Khalifa is one proud dad.

New mom Amber Rose shared a heartwearming photo of the rapper holding their son Sebastian “The Bash” Taylor Thomaz, after giving birth Thursday, Feb. 22.

“Best daddy ever,” Rose, 29, captioned the pic. “Up with the baby so Muva can go back to sleep.”

Before his fiancee welcomed their first child together, Khalifa, 25, took to his Twitter account, announcing that Rose was in labor on Thursday by writing “daddy time” alongside a photo of himself wearing scrubs.

In celebration of their son’s arrival, the couple — who got engaged on March 2012 — wished baby Bash a “Happy Birthday.”

“I’m so happy u guys I fell in love all over again! :-)” Rose wrote, with Khalifa adding, “Everyone welcome this perfect young man into the world.”

Suit Up — JT And Jay-Z Are Coming To A Stadium Near You

Posted: 22 Feb 2013 08:36 AM PST

After almost two weeks of speculation and swirling rumors, it’s finally official: Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z are going on tour.

On the heels of their Top 10 single, “Suit & Tie,” the music-making duo are hitting the road for the Legends Of The Summer summer stadium. Kicking off July 17 in Toronto, Timberlake and Jay-Z will hop between big cities across North America — from New York City and Chicago to Los Angeles and Philadelphia — before wrapping up Aug. 16 in Miami at Sun Life Stadium.

“What are you doing this summer?!?!” Timberlake tweeted, along with a link to the announcement on his official website. “#LegendsOfTheSummer w. @S_C_”

Just a day before JT blew the lid off the tour, Jay-Z kept the rumor mill rolling by posting photos of various lit-up venues — such an Yankee Stadium, Candlestick Park and the Rose Bowl — on his website, Life + Times, heavily hinting at the tour name with a hastag: #LegendsOfTheSummer.

But before they board the tour bus, Timberlake and Jay-Z — who is expected to release a solo follow-up album to The Blueprint 3 this year — will headline London’s Wireless Festival, a two-day event to take place at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on July 12 and 13.

Confirmation of the Legends Of The Summer tour comes on the heels of news that Timberlake will return to Saturday Night Live for a fifth time, serving as both host and musical guest on March 9. Just two days later, the former N’Sync singer will take over Late Night With Jimmy Fallon during the week of March 11-15, marking the first time a guest has been featured for an entire week.

The appearances will top off Timberlake's carefully calculated publicity push ahead of his third studio release, The 20/20 Experience, which will hit shelves on March 19. Ever since commencing his musical comeback in early January, Timberlake has stayed in the spotlight: From performing during a pre-Super Bowl party, going old-school on the Grammy stage, wowing a packed-house at Hollywood Palladium, and turning up London at the BRIT Awards, to amassing a following on his new Instagram account, unveiling the album's artwork and track list, dropping a track penned for his newlywed wife Jessica Biel, "Mirrors", and debuting his David Fincher-directed "Suit & Tie" music video.

Tickets for all dates — see below — except New York go on sale to the public on Feb. 28.

Oh, Boy: Liam Payne Calls Culture Club Singer ‘Weird’

Posted: 22 Feb 2013 08:03 AM PST

It’s a boy bander vs. Boy George.

One Direction’s Liam Payne is fighting back after the Culture Club frontman lambasted Payne for reportedly refusing to take a photo with his niece on the red carpet at Wednesday’s BRIT Awards in London.

“Top marks to Harry Styles for stopping for a picture with my niece and Bollox’s to Liam and the disrespectful wanker of a minder!” George tweeted.

To which Payne snarkily remarked: “@BoyGeorge now now boy lets not tell porkies. Firstly thanks for getting my name wrong three times secondly then asking me where is liam?…awkward. Then when you finally got it right saying you wanted Niall instead.”

The 19-year-old then continued: “If you would have asked me for a picture i would have stopped bro i just did what you said and pointed niall out for you so u just keep wearing ur strange hats and enjoy yourself my little Georgie pie… It’s still not cool you just look weird.”

This isn’t the first time the 1D boys have found themselves embroiled in a vicious Twitter spat.

In November, Zayn Malik engaged in a war of words with The Wanted‘s Max George (yes, another British singer with the surname George), which seems to have started after Max posted a string of photos of himself schmoozing with various celebrities at the American Music Awards.

"The first step is acceptance #geekoftheweek," Malik tweeted. He then added, "Your display just shows how much of a wannabe you are :)."

"That's not very nice. I was just starting to like you and your RnB hits,” Max fired back. (Their exchange has since been deleted.)

Putting their online brawls aside, the British boy band are still riding high on their successes. During the BRIT Awards, they took home the Global Success Award, recognizing their two hit albums and dedicated fans across the globe — and debuted the video for their charity single, “One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks).”

On Feb. 22, One Direction officially hit the road as the kick-off their eight-month Take Me Home world tour.

Hugh Jackman Gives Seth MacFarlane Tips For Hosting The Oscars

Posted: 21 Feb 2013 07:30 PM PST

When it comes to hosting, Hugh Jackman certainly knows a thing or two about the Academy Awards.

In 2009, years before he became a frontrunner for the Best Actor statuette, the Les Miserables star served as Oscar host. Flash forward to 2013: Jackman gets ready to pass the torch, offering some advice to this year’s host, Seth MacFarlane, who will helm the ceremony on Feb. 24.

“Yeah, he’s gotta be funny. Like, I don’t know, he’s not a very funny guy, so he should work on that, right?” Jackman deadpanned to Celebuzz during the G’Day USA Black Tie Gala on Jan. 12.

Jokes aside, Jackman sought his own mentor as he took the stage for Hollywood’s biggest night.

“The best advice I got was from Steve Martin, and he said, ‘Just remember, the first 45 minutes: best audience of  your life because everyone out there is more nervous than you, and from that moment on there’s way more winners than losers, and just hurry it up!’” he revealed.

From a musical number with his future Les Mis costar Anne Hathaway to a memorable opening monologue, the Aussie actor’s hard work paid off: he won rave reviews for emceeing the ’09 telecast, which earned a hefty ratings boost compared to years’ past.

And with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s widely acclaimed gig at last night’s Golden Globes, it looks like the (comedy) bar has been set high for MacFarlane. Bring on the laughs!

Watch to find out who wins when the 85th Academy Awards ceremony is broadcast on ABC February 24, 2013. In the meantime, are you looking forward to Seth MacFarlane as this year’s Oscars host? What do you think of the awards season so far?

Harry Who? TSwift Has A Brand-New Brit

Posted: 22 Feb 2013 01:04 PM PST

Taylor Swift and Tom Odell

Haylor is so last month.

Some six weeks after splitting from her short-lived One Direction beau Harry Styles, Taylor Swift is on the arm of a new man: British singer-songwriter Tom Odell.

After bonding backstage at the BRIT Awards on Wednesday, the pair came together for a night on the town in London, England, on Thursday. Bundled in black pants and a red plaid peacoat, Swift, 23, stepped out with Odell, 22, for drinks at a Hackney pub. Before long, the date moved on to the members-only Groucho Club in London’s Soho.

Perhaps the pair was toasting Odell, after the folksy artist snagged the Critics’ Choice award at the BRITS.

Though Swift went home empty-handed Wednesday — she was beat out for International Female Solo Artist by Lana Del Rey — she stole the spotlight with her sexed-up rendition of “I Knew You Were Trouble,” a performance that even earned praised from her ex.

"I thought her performance was really good," Styles said of his one-time love. “She looked great.”

Haylor — as the country-pop crooner and the One Direction star, 18, were labeled as a couple — called it quits in early January. During their 37-day romance, Styles and Swift were always all smiles at each others' side, despite their time-crunched schedules, from secret sleepovers in New York City hotels to a ski mountain mini-vacationin Park City, Utah.

But In wake of the breakup, Styles has no hard feelings. “She's a sweet girl,” he told Grazia magazine. “I don't have a bad word to say about her."
