| All Your Movie News in 60 Seconds Posted: 16 Jan 2013 05:17 PM PST  It may only be Thursday, but Hollywood has been flooded with enough movie headlines for a special edition of One Minute Buzz. On Sunday, Jessica Chastain and Ben Affleck took home some of the biggest prizes from this year’s Golden Globes. Chastain was awarded Best Actress (Drama) for her role in Zero Dark Thirty, beating the likes of Marion Cotillard and Naomi Watts, while Affleck and his film Argo were named Best Director and Best Picture (Drama), respectively.
ZDT also won another big title over the weekend: box office winner. Thanks to a wider expansion in theaters, the film grossed more than $24.5 million. Ryan Gosling's crime thriller Gangster Squad made some $16.7 million over the weekend, but it wasn't strong enough even for second place. Grossing more than $18 million at the box office was A Haunted House, a comedy horror spoof staring Marlon Wayans. | Brace Yourselves: Joe Paterno is Coming to a Theater Near You Posted: 17 Jan 2013 10:58 AM PST  Scarface's star Al Pacino and director Brian De Palma are reteaming to bring the story of the late Penn State coach Joe Paterno to the big screen. David McKenna (American History X) will pen Happy Valley, the tentative title of the film, which is based on Paterno's biography written by Joe Posnanski. The story will hinge on Paterno's fall from grace during the 2012 underage sex scandal that plagued the last days of the football coach's career. The project marks Pacino and De Palma's first collaboration since Carlito's Way. [Deadline] 2012 was arguably Matthew McConaughey's biggest year since making his big break in 1996's A Time to Kill, and now the actor is following up on his Magic Mike success.
Mud is a new dramatic thriller from director Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter). McConaughey plays the title character, a con on the run for murder whose troubles rope in two young kids. On Wednesday, Yahoo! Movies unveiled the film's first official trailer and you need to watch it right now! We can rest easy now: Sofia Coppola's new film, The Bling Ring, has finally found a distributor. Production company A24 will distribute the film, which follows a group of teenage thieves who rip off celebrity homes. Bling is currently set for a June 2013 release. [Deadline] Michael Fassbender is going from professional sex addict to time-traveling assassin for Assassin's Creed, the film adaptation of the hit video game – which on Wednesday finally locked down a writer. Playwright Michael Lesslie will pen the adaptation, which centers on an average joe (Fassbender) who is kidnapped by government operatives and exposed to an experiment that unlocks his past lives spent as an assassin. Now that FOX has debuted the first episode of Season 12, it's clear this season will be as much about the battle of the divas on the judging panel, as well as the singers on the main stage. For now, the ladies are downplaying their drama and chocking their differences up to "strong personalities.” After Wednesday's premiere episode, it's clear that Carey and Minaj have had trouble from the start. Whether it’s a sideways glare from Carey or a sassy swing thrown by Minaj, these ladies are keeping the feud alive. They have battling British accents. They cringe and wince and roll their eyes while the other one is speaking. So far, the only thing these judges agree on is whom they should and shouldn't send through to Hollywood.Celebuzz rounded up the sometimes sharp, sometimes subtle daggers on the premiere episode. | How Lance Armstrong Lived a Lie (PHOTOS) Posted: 17 Jan 2013 10:24 AM PST        Since shortly after winning his first Tour de France title, Lance Armstrong has been under siege. Whether from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, federal prosecutors, or former teammates, the world’s most famous cyclist has faced accusations of illegal performance-enhancing drugs during his cycling career. But with every eyewitness claim, or suspicious blood sample, or official investigation, Armstrong stood by his story: I never doped.Until now. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Monday, Armstrong admitted to doping during the time he raced to seven consecutive Tour de France wins. "I felt he was thorough. He was serious. He certainly prepared himself for this moment," Winfrey told CBS This Morning during a segment promoting her interview, which will be aired over two nights — Thursday, Jan. 17, and Friday, Jan. 18 — on the OWN Network's Oprah's Next Chapter. "It was surprising to me … for myself, my team, all of us in the room. We were mesmerized and riveted by some of his answers." Armstrong’s confession comes after the International Cycling Union (UCI), the worldwide governing body of cycling, stripped Armstrong of his seven Tour titles and banned him from the sport for life back in October. "Lance Armstrong has no place in cycling," said the union's president, Pat McQuaid, according to CNN. The decision cited the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency’s damning 200-page report revealing Armstrong's deep involvement in the "most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen," USADA chief executive Travis Tygart said in a statement.But before his fall from grace, Armstrong dodged the doping allegations for over a decade. | Bad Girls and Bikinis: The ‘Spring Breakers’ Trailer (VIDEO) Posted: 17 Jan 2013 09:26 AM PST  Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez get into a heap of trouble in the first official trailer for Spring Breakers. In the film, out March 22, the former Disney princesses play two college girls who rob a restaurant with their best girlfriends, all in an attempt to fund their bikini-clad spring break. Naturally, they get caught by the police. After which, things take a turn for the bizarre when they get bailed out by a guns and arms dealer named Alien (played by — who else? — James Franco), who ropes the girls into his own twisted universe. But hey, at least they get a tan! Will this be a big hit for Hudgens and Gomez? Or are they trying to grow up too fast? One Direction have become certified globetrotters over the past week, jetting to Africa, the United Kingdom and Asia. For their latest stop, the British boy band made for another memorable arrival, this time causing hysteria at Japan’s Narita International Airport “Airport was crazy! Big love to japanese fans,” Niall Horan posted on Twitter. Horan and his bandmates — Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne — even traded in their trademark European garb for traditional kimonos that featured the word ’1D’ written in Japanese characters. After posing for pics and signing autographs for the hundreds of fans gathered in the terminal, the boys retreated to their hotel as they prepare for two concerts on Jan. 18 and 19 in Japan’s capital city. “Sooooo Hi Japan!” Styles wrote, posting a view from their hotel room on Instagram. Just days before, the British boy band jetted to Africa for a charitable visit to Ghana as a part of Britain’s Red Nose Day on March 15.“So honoured to be a part of Starting in February, the boys will continue to rack up air mileage when they hit the road for their Take Me Home tour, which will take them to the U.S., U.K., and Canada. The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star and his wife Erin are not only going to be parents for the second time around, but they're also welcoming another girl, Celebuzz can exclusively reveal. "They are so excited," a source said. "They're telling all their friends they're having another girl. Erin's gushing about it, and they've already started decorating the nursery.”
The happy couple, who got married in May 2010, are already parents to 18-month-old daughter Mia Loren – and the entire brood may soon be making their reality TV debut. "They're in talks to be on the reality show Beverly Hills Nannies," said the source. "Erin has already interviewed for it." Forty-eight-year-old Ziering, also known for his stint on Dancing with the Stars, first revealed that he and Erin are expecting baby number two to PEOPLE. He told the mag, "I feel blessed, having a family is something that I've always wanted. Having a second child is the realization of a dream come true."The Ziering family’s next bundle of joy is due in May. And true to form, Rihanna’s risque cover art has left tongues wagging — it shows the singer nestling in a man’s neck, one that is inked in the very same spot where Brown tattooed a woman's battered face. They'll also recreate momentous fails submitted by the audience and hit the streets to drum up even more outrageous stories.But, you've got to see it to know just how wrong this show can get. | Mimi & Monroe Tune In for ‘American Idol’ (PHOTO) Posted: 17 Jan 2013 06:13 AM PST        As season 12 of American Idol hit the airwaves, Mariah Carey got ready to hit the sheets. The pop superstar made her debut as a judge during the FOX show’s Wednesday night debut but skipped any lavish premiere parties. Instead, Carey opted for a night in bed with 8-month-old daughter Monroe. “Looking at Instagram during a commercial break #idol,” she captioned a photo on Twitter.
The singer and her daughter cozied up in front of the TV donning printed pajamas, with Carey in pink and Monroe in purple. While Carey’s feud with fellow judge Nicki Minaj unraveled on-screen, the “Vision of Love” songstress left the drama behind as she live-Tweeted throughout the two-hour episode.
“Here’s a preview of Season 12! Don't forget to watch And from the looks of it, the pop superstar may have revealed her catchphrase on the show. “We need to cut a montage of @MariahCarey saying “thank you dahling” by end of season haha #idol,” host Ryan Seacrest joked on Twitter. To which Carey replied, “Thank you dahhling haaaa!” With her Idol duties underway, Carey is putting her focus on the music, first and foremost. After all, it was Monroe and Moroccan who inspired her to join the judges’ panel. “For me, ultimately, this is about the kids, the contestants," Carey said during a Nightline interview with Barbara Walters.
